Fantasy fans rejoice!  Glen Cook‘s 10-book fantasy/action series, The Black Company, is being developed into a TV series starring Eliza Dushku.  Dushku’s production company, Boston Diva Productions and David Goyer’s Phantom Four are teaming up to develop the show.  This, according to Deadline.

The Black Company series, first released in 1984,  takes place in a world full of magic, sorcery, intrigue, war and darkness.  It is centered around an elite group of mercenaries of the same name.  Dushku will play The Lady, a dark sorceress who gave up her magic to join and eventually lead the Black Company along with her own army, to defeat her enemies.

Here’s what Deadline has to say of the series…

“The series follows the exploits of the Black Company, an elite mercenary unit that carries out the often nefarious deeds of the highest bidder across a Tolkeinesque landscape. When these hard-bitten men discover the prophecy that the embodiment of good has been reborn, they must re-examine their loyalties. The Lady (Dushku), who rules over the Northern Empire, uses the Black Company to further her domination of a power structure rife with usurpers. Additional casting will be announced in the coming weeks. ”

Dushku was most recently seen on TV in Banshee and in a brief role in Con Man.  But, she is known well in geekdom and this can only be good news for her fans, and the fans of the book series.  We’ll keep you updated on further developments.
