“The world needed a hero; it got Black Adam.”
On Wednesday, DC unleashed the official trailer for the Dwayne Johnson-led Black Adam, and, folks, it appears we’re in for a dark adventure.
Said trailer gives us glimpses of Pierce Brosnan as the pontificating Dr. Fate, Aldis Hodge in his Hawkman glory, Quintessa Swindell as the stormy Cyclone and Noah Centineo smashing it up as Atom Smasher.
The trailer opens with Johnson’s narration, describing the character’s origins. We learn he was an enslaved person, reborn as a god, whose son Hurut (Jalon Christian) sacrificed his life. Now, our antihero kneels “before no one.”

We hear Brosnan’s Dr. Fate presenting a moral quandary to our titular character: Either he destroys the world or saves it. Hawkman reminds him that heroes don’t kill people. But guess what? “I do,” Black Adam intones menacingly.
Additionally, we meet Sarah Shahi‘s Adrianna Tomaz/Isis and Mohammed Amer as Karim.
Overall, this DC flick looks to present a new kind of “hero,” one who lives in the gray spaces and performs questionable acts to uphold his version of justice. I’m game!
Black Adam swings into theaters on Friday, October 21, 2022. Take a gander at the new photos, official poster and trailer below.
