On Friday, we had some exciting news coming out of DC films. According to The Observer, director Jaume Collet-Serra is in talks to join as director for the Black Adam movie. Collet-Serra is once again teaming up with actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson after working on the upcoming Disney film Jungle Cruise. The film that has been talked about for years is finally making progress!
We don’t know all too much about this film, despite it being in pre-production for years. Originally, Black Adam was supposed to make an appearance in the Shazam! movie. However, plans changed and they decided to focus on a solo film for each character, which we learned in 2017 thanks to Johnson himself. There was also rumor of the character appearing in the Man of Steel sequel but that appears to have fallen through. Since then, things have been pretty quiet. Thanks to the success of the solo Shazam! film, apparently the production companies are ready to introduce his greatest enemy.
In April, Johnson took to Instagram to update fans on the film and mentioned they were going to be shooting in “about a year”. So now with Collet-Serra seemingly in the director’s chair, we can get this film on the road!
What do you think of the update? Are you looking forward to the Black Adam movie? Let us know! Be sure to come back to Geek Girl Authority for more DCEU news. The untitled Black Adam movie does not have a release date at this time.
