BIRDS OF PREY Unveils Absolutely Insane Official Title

Since the reveal of a Birds of Prey movie, we’ve pretty much settled into the name. It’s simple, it reveals the team name, it’s good. But there’s been rumors that the title would expand into something more and boy has it expanded. Star and producer Margot Robbie debuted the full title in an Instagram post. And honestly, you’re not ready for it. But we’re gonna tell you anyways. Get ready to watch Birds of Prey (The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn).

That is a true mouthful of a film name. In the image Margot Robbie shared the subtitle of the film is handwritten so it wasn’t clear whether or not this was a joke title. But according to THR, it’s true. All of it. And honestly it kind of makes sense. If the title stayed ‘Birds of Prey’, it doesn’t include the giant role that Harley Quinn is supposed to play in the film. But man what a title. It looks like it’s a bit of play on Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) but so much more crazy.

So what is with that title – what the heck does it mean? Does this mean Harley Quinn is going to free herself from Joker’s grasp? Is she moving on from the Joker? Is she becoming more independent of his schemes? We’ve seen this happen very recently in the comics where she broke up with Joker ‘for good’ and is off doing her own thing. It’s unclear whether or not the comics will influence the film. All we really know is that it’s going to be ‘Fantabulous’.

Harley Quinn isn’t the only baddie set to fight against the heroes (if she’s fighting against them at all). Black Mask (Ewan McGregor) will be the main antagonist of the film. Will Harley Quinn and the Birds of Prey team up to bring Black Mask down? Will she work with him to foil the Birds of Prey? There’s so many questions and even more brought up by the title. At least we know our Birds of Prey consist of Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez) and Cassandra Cain (Ella Jay Basco).

What do you think of the title name? How insane do you think the film is gonna be? Let us know! It debuts in theaters February 7th, 2020.
