It’s finally time for Leonard and Sheldon to divide their belongings, and for Sheldon and Amy to settle into the apartment they’ve taken over from Penny, in this week’s episode of The Big Bang Theory. What’s happening with Amy’s apartment right now, why change-phobic Sheldon is still the one trying to acclimate to new digs and why nobody ever questions the fact that it’s Sheldon who’s moved across the hall into Leonard’s wife’s apartment instead of Leonard are all things we skip over this week. Nobody (except me) is asking, though, so I guess it’s not important.
Anyway, Sheldon and Amy are ready to make Penny’s place feel a little more their own, so they take the MASSIVE portrait Amy commissioned of her and Penny across the hall. Sheldon starts choosing things he wants to take back to his new place while they’re there. Inevitably, he wants all the things, and his casual disses and consistent selfishness finally get Leonard’s goat. Leonard says the only thing he wants to keep is the apartment’s official flag, and it’s all down hill from there.
Leonard keeps the flag, so Sheldon changes the wifi password. Leonard wears the flag as a toga while he does his laundry in front of Sheldon (sans underwear), so Sheldon sublets his old bedroom to a stranger: CHRISTOPHER LLOYD.
This episode was pretty flat, but you have to appreciate an appearance from Doc Brown, right?
With a little help from roommate Theodore (Lloyd), Sheldon and Leonard realize they’re acting out at each other because it’s confusing and scary to change your living situation… even if it’s just moving across the hall.
Meanwhile, Stuart has come crawling to Howard and Bernadette because he’s been evicted. He offers that if they’ll let him live with them indefinitely, he’ll become their nanny/butler/helper. They agree, but all of them are caught a bit off-guard when the decision affects Raj more than anyone else.
As Raj puts it, there was already an emotionally needy third wheel involved in Bernadette’s pregnancy before Stuart showed up. (In response, Stuart sagely asks why there can’t be four wheels.)
The two compete to cook, clean, shop, assemble baby accessories and generally ingratiate themselves to the Wolowitzs, leaving Howard and Bernadette to relax. At least until Bernadette (SURPRISE!) goes into labor.
When it counts most, the extra wheels prove their worth by springing into action to get Bernadette off to the hospital while Howard bumbles about.
THE END.
