Holy crap you guys! Beyonce is coming back to the acting world in a new role at Disney. According to Variety, the international superstar has joined the live-action The Lion King film as Simba’s childhood friend and love interest, Nala. The singer/actress confirmed the role on social media today.
On Facebook, the singer posted an image of the cast list, including herself as the role of Nala. We’re quite certain that the internet exploded for her fans. She joins an already star-studded cast of this live-action remake of the popular 90s film. According to the article, she was the first choice for the role and was offered the part earlier this year.
She joins heavy hitters like Donald Glover as Simba, James Earl Jones reprising his role as Mufasa, and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar. Also in the cast are Alfre Woodard as Simba’s mother Sarabi, John Oliver as Zazu, John Kani as Rafiki, Florence Kasumba as Shenzi, Eric André as Azizi, Keegan Michael Key as Kamari and Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen as Timon and Pumbaa.
Disney has seen a slew of success in their live-action remakes of their popular animations. They’ve teamed up once again with director Jon Favreau, who brought The Jungle Book to life. So fans are expecting that the live-action film will be similar to the look of that film. But as of right now we have no images or even a glance at how the film will be. We’ll all have to wait till 2019 to see how the remake goes.
