Law and Order: Special Victims Unit has been around for over two decades and has managed to deliver high-quality episodes throughout its 24 seasons. It’s a challenging task to keep up with the quality of a show for such a long time, but the writers’ room continues to deliver season after season.

Season 24 of the show took place between 2022 and 2023, and during 2023, some memorable episodes made this latest season feel like the show did when it first started. The truth is that we have Olivia Benson to thank for keeping us engaged after more than 500 episodes.

“Jumped In” (Season 24 Episode 10)

During Law and Order: Special Victims Unit Season 24, the Manhattan squad worked closely with the Bronx squad to help them close many of their open cases. In Season 24 Episode 10, “Jumped In,” Fin stays in the Bronx working with Bruno and Churlish. During this time, Fin believes Bruno would be a great addition to the team after losing Amanda Rollins.

In the meantime, Olivia Benson is attacked by gang members outside of her apartment. The hit comes from a gang leader behind bars who has a vendetta against SVU’s Captain. Because she is the victim in this case, Duarte has to take over and help lead the investigation.

“Soldier Up” (Season 24 Episode 11)

Against his will, Fin has to help the Bronx SVU hire new detectives on Law and Order: Special Victims Unit Season 24 Episode 11, “Soldier Up.” Hopefully, this way, he can return to his own squad room and continue helping his Captain. However, he insists Bruno would be better off working with them than in the Bronx.

Duarte continues to work closely with Benson’s team while she must help the gang member who attacked her to get a break in the case. It is Duarte, however, who reveals a piece of information that will change the course of the case.

“King of the Moon” (Season 24 Episode 15)

Throughout its 24 seasons, Law and Order: Special Victims Unit has been the home to many incredible guest stars at the peak of their career or starting out. For Season 24 Episode 14, “King of the Moon,” Bradley Whitford returns after nine years to play another great character. This time around, he is Pence Humphreys, a man with dementia who confesses to the murder of his wife.

However, as the case develops, Carisi and Benson suspect a missing piece to the case and decide to investigate further than Humphreys’ confession. While they handle that case, Fin must investigate Velasco and figure out if he is a dirty cop or not.

“Bend the Law” (Season 24 Episode 19)

Betty Buckley has been a recurring character on Law and Order: Special Victims Unit since Season 23, playing Trial Division Chief Lorraine Maxwell. In Season 24, Episode 19, “Bend the Law,” things get complicated as her husband becomes a suspect during an investigation. By the end of the episode, Olivia Benson doesn’t know if Maxwell’s husband died or was killed, but must believe the word of the Trial Division Chief.

Velasco’s truth finally comes out, and Benson sends him to arrest his old friend. Even though this is a difficult task for him, it is the only thing he can do to gain the Captain’s trust again.

“Bad Things” (Season 24 Episode 21)

Law and Order: Special Victims Unit Season 24 Episode 21, “Bad Things,” introduces two different cases. On the one hand, Dominick Carisi and Olivia Benson are surprised when they begin to investigate a series of assaults that have the same M.O. but different DNA at every crime scene.

On the other hand, Muncy (a rookie on SVU) comes face-to-face with Elias Olsen once more. This time around, she wants to make sure they catch him with no possibility of him getting away. She wants to do everything in her power to prove he is guilty.

“All Pain is One Malady” (Season 24 Episode 22)

Since the beginning of Law and Order: Organized Crime, the two shows have merged many times on different crossovers. For the season finale of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit Season 24, Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler combine their units to go after a suspect with global repercussions.

Not only does Season 24 Episode 22, “All Pain is One Malady,” bring Benson and Stabler back together, but it marks the return of a beloved character who left earlier during the season. Amanda Rollins uses her expertise as a profiler to help both squads catch the suspect.
