Great news for Knives Out fans, which to be honest, is all of us. A sequel is coming! The whodunit film was a breath of fresh air last year for its originality and amazing cast. The film has currently grossed $300 million internationally and earned writer/director Rian Johnson an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay.
According to Deadline, the news was announced during a quarterly earnings call by Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer. Johnson had made it publicly known that he was down for a sequel to Knives Out which would once again star Daniel Craig as southern sleuth Benoit Blanc. Craig’s character would once again serve as the centerpiece although this time to an all new mystery which means another star studded cast of crazy characters.
Knives Out, an Agatha Christie type murder mystery, also starred Chris Evans, Ana De Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Don Johnson, Michael Shannon, Toni Collette, LaKeith Stanfield, Katherine Langford and Jaeden Martell. The film was a hoot and Craig created a new 21st century semi-bumbling detective that audiences definitely want to see more of.
