More casting news on the HBO Max pilot DMZ. Benjamin Bratt has been cast as Parco Delgado in the series. He will play opposite lead Rosario Dawson who is playing medic Alma Ortega. Ava DuVernay is set to direct the pilot with Roberto Patino serving as showrunner.
The pilot is based on DC’s Vertigo comic DMZ created by Brian Wood and Riccardo Burchielli. DMZ takes place in the near future where America is embroiled in a bitter civil war, leaving Manhattan a demilitarized zone (DMZ – hence the title of the series), destroyed and isolated from the rest of the world.
Dawson will play fierce medic Alma Ortego, who goes on a harrowing journey of saving lives while desperately searching for her lost son. As she contends with the gangs, militias, demagogues and warlords that control this lawless no man’s land, she becomes the unlikely source of what everyone here has lost…hope.

According to Deadline, Bratt will play character Parco Delgado. He is the popular — and deadly — leader of one of the most powerful gangs in the DMZ. He wants to rule the DMZ and will stop at nothing to secure that outcome. Delgado is known as a wildly magnetic, affable and equally influential man.
Currently DMZ has only been picked up for a pilot. There’s no news of any series pick-up. Stay tuned to Geek Girl Authority for more news on DMZ!
