BEE AND PUPPYCAT First Season Reboot Returns to Netflix

If you were anywhere on the internet in 2013, you know about Bee and Puppycat. The animated feature had a niche but cult-like following that hasn’t waivered. And even as we pass the seven-year mark for the show’s end, they stand strong. Netflix teased the first season reboot last year, and I am thrilled it’s still coming out. With so many animation projects getting the ax, I was afraid it’d taken too long, so our reboot was gone, but that’s not what happened!

The original season of Bee and Puppycat followed the misadventures of a young woman who is chronically unemployed. After being fired from yet another job, Bee’s path collides with a mysterious creature. One who isn’t quite a puppy or a cat. Together they tackle various positions in service of an interdimensional space temp agency.

Even if you somehow missed the original wave of fandom, Bee and Puppycat will still feel familiar to animation fans. That’s because the show was created by Adventure Time’s Natasha Allegri and produced by the one and only Frederator Studios. They give the series a surreal yet well-rounded feel to the writing that makes it work so well.

Yesterday Netflix released a trailer on their website on the Bee and Puppycat page. As of the writing of this article, it hasn’t been uploaded anywhere else in an official capacity, but a Youtube channel called shadowdra126 uploaded it for us ahead of Netflix.

From what we can see in the trailer, this rebooted season has gotten an animation style to match season two, newly recorded audio with the original cast and new dialogue to help supplement the new storylines. We also spied new planets, which will most likely have new temp jobs attached to them. The trailer also leads me to believe that we will get much more world-building for Puppycat’s world and fewer vague answers than the original run gave us.
