It may be a tale as old as time, but it’s a new story for Hawkeye star Fra Fee. As reported exclusively by Variety, the actor will join Disney Plus’s Beauty and the Beast prequel series!

This Beauty and the Beast show will see the return of Luke Evans and Josh Gad, reprising the roles of Gaston and LeFou, respectively, from the 2017 live-action adaptation of the same name starring Emma Watson as Belle and Dan Stevens as the Beast. The live-action musical prequel series received the greenlight in June of 2021.

Fee will portray Prince Benoit Berlioz, who, according to Variety, is “a childhood friend of Tilly’s who has grown into a handsome, charismatic, confident prince.”

Newcomer Briana Middleton plays Tilly, LeFou’s stepsister.

Here’s a synopsis of the series per Variety:

Set in the iconic kingdom of Beauty and the Beast years before the Beast and Belle’s romance, the series will follow Gaston and LeFou as they set off with Tilly after a surprising revelation from her past comes to light, sending the trio off on an unexpected journey.

Fee’s most known for his recent turn as Kazi Kazimierczak on Marvel’s Hawkeye, starring Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop and Jeremy Renner as the titular Avenger, Clint Barton. Kazi worked for the Tracksuit Mafia under Wilson Fisk and closely bonded with Maya Lopez, a.k.a. Echo. Other credits include Acorn TV’s Dalgliesh, the Camila Cabello-led CinderellaPixie and the Tom Hooper-directed 2012 musical adaptation Les Misérables.

The Beauty and the Beast prequel series boasts an eight-episode order. Gad, Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis developed, executive produced and wrote the show. Liesl Tommy executive produces and directs the first episode.

Fra Fee is a terrific actor, and I’m excited to see what he brings to the Disney musical table. Here’s hoping the Powers That Be offers a fresh, unique take on this property.
