Luan Casca
Beacon 23 has mastered the art of the flashback narrative, and if this clip from Sunday’s episode is any indication, we’re in for a treat.
Geek Girl Authority is thrilled to unveil the exclusive sneak peek of “Luan Casca,” the sixth episode of the season. In it, we reunite with teen Aster (Hannah Melissa Scott), who first appeared in “Purgatory” in a flashback scene with Harmony (Natasha Mumba). Teen Aster trains under the watchful eye of Jocko (John Kapelos), the Beacon Keeper for Beacon 90. However, things take a turn when Aster senses Jocko is hiding something.

Aster Makes a Choice
Tensions escalate in the aforementioned clip when Aster delays a military vessel from passing through despite Jocko insisting the military has the right of way. Of course, Aster knows of the military’s capabilities. She asserts they’ll simply kill innocent people whose crime is stealing food to survive.
Next, Aster orders Agrippa to pull out of FTL, prompting Jocko to reroute them to a new course. The pilot complains that this is the second food reroute for a specific colony.
In an act of desperation, Aster points her gun at Jocko, stating that ISA doesn’t care about the colonists. She asks him if he knows what starvation looks like before he declares that Beacon Keepers must do what they’re told.

What’s to Come
So, how will this flashback episode tie in with the present-day story? Will we further flesh out Aster’s connection to The Artifact, which she’s had since childhood? Will Aleph’s (Eric Lange) objective of reassembling The Artifact come to fruition? Only time (and this week’s episode) will tell.
