His Dark Materials Premiere date announced

The highly anticipated  His Dark Materials series will premiere in November according to the show’s  Twitter page.  BBC One, the British public broadcaster will air the episodes first on Sunday November 3. HBO, which co-produced the fantasy epic, will air it in a Monday night slot on November 4.

Based on Philip Pullman’s  beloved trilogy of the same name, the story follows Lyra Belaqua, played by Dafne Keen.  Lyra is a brave young girl from another world, according to the HBO synopsis. When several children go missing, Lyra sets out to find her friend. She discovers a sinister plot of a secret organization involving the children and their animal companions known as demons.  She encounters extraordinary beasts and uncovers dangerous secrets.

Pullman’s story consists of three books: The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass.  So there is so much to the story than we already know.   I’m intrigued by how much more there is to uncover.

His Dark Materials also stars  James McAvoy, Ruth WilsonClarke Peters, James Cosmo, and Lin-Manuel Miranda. Jack Thorne wrote the first season of His Dark Materials.  Executive producers are Dan McCulloch, Jane Tranter, Joel Collins and Julie Gardner for Bad Wolf; Pullman, Thorne, Tom Hooper, Otto Bathhurst; Deborah Forte, Toby Emmerich and Carolyn Blackwood for New Line Cinema; and Ben Irving and Piers Wenger for BBC One.

His Dark Materials will premiere on BBC One on November 3 in the UK. And in the US on November 4 on HBO.   Check back with Geek Girl Authority for all of the His Dark Materials recaps and news!
