We’re getting closer and closer to the final chapter in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. Production on Star Wars: Episode IX is wrapping up and cast members are saying goodbye. Today, one very important member of the team has announced that they’ve finished.
Brian Herring, one of the puppeteers for BB-8, announced on Twitter that his time with the adorable droid has ended. The lead performer shared a selection of photos as he reminisced about his time working on the franchise. “Today was a wrap on BB-8. The last 5 years have been an amazing ride. Thanks to @jjabrams, Kathleen, Neal, #teamBB8 especially Dave and the entire cast & crew for the time of my life. Few people get to live the dream. Thank you.”

This is a rather bittersweet one. While Anthony Daniels wrap announcement was pretty heartfelt, this one is different. BB-8 is the unofficial mascot of the sequel trilogies. The little droid has easily made his (or its) way into many fans hearts, mine included. I won’t even bring up the amount of BB-8 memorabilia I have. While it’s expected that we’ll be seeing the little astromech in other films and media in the future, it’s still a bit sad to know he’s done. We don’t even have the title of the film and we’re already feeling sad about the end. Are we even ready to say goodbye?
