Relive another thrilling episode of Batwoman with me, rewatching season one, episode seven, “Tell Me The Truth.”
The episode begins with shots fired into a restaurant’s window from the building across the street, and a trap catches the shooter, known as The Rifle (Garfield Wilson). While the Crows and Batwoman (Ruby Rose) are on the scene, Sophie (Meagan Tandy) confronts Batwoman. She informs her of her dad’s order to apprehend her at any cost and urges her to tell Jacob (Dougray Scott) her identity, believing Batwoman to be Kate (Rose).
Back at the Batcave, Kate trains as Luke (Camrus Johnson) checks in on Kate after reading news of Jacob filing for divorce from Catherine (Elizabeth Anweis). He also reveals a connection between the two past shootings and the customers in the restaurant shooting. They were all scientists for Hamilton Dynamics.

At Crows headquarters, Sophie’s husband, Tyler (Greyston Holt), confronts her about her interaction with Batwoman. Another familial spat happens in a different part of town. Mary (Nicole Kang) and Catherine discuss the ramifications of her actions and how this divorce affects Mary.
In an attempt to apprehend The Rifle, Kate encounters another vigilante, Julia Pennyworth, and the two come to blows as their target escapes.
In a dark alley, Mouse (Sam Littlefield) viciously stabs a Hamilton Dynamics scientist to death. Alice (Rachel Skarsten) reveals The Rifle’s kills are at her behest. These scientists are the only people who know how to make the gun that can pierce Batwoman’s suit.

Julia (Christina Wolfe) catches Kate up on The Rifle’s background. She also reveals her line-blurring history with Kate to Luke. They met with Julia pretending to be Kate’s Krav Maga teacher. The chat with Julia sends Kate down memory lane about how things with Sophie ended.
Kate thinks back to how they planned to navigate their relationship and their status in military school after discovering their relationship. The two disagree on whether they should risk expulsion or lie about their relationship.
The memory fades, and Sophie receives a text from Kate, asking to meet. They never discuss Batwoman’s identity as the restaurant owner interrupts them. Kate makes a scene. She believes they are only being interrupted and eventually asked to leave because they are mistaken for a couple.

This sparks the same argument from the past. Kate asks Sophie for the truth about why Sophie didn’t stand up for their relationship all those years ago. She remembers the advice Jacob gave her, causing her to instead deny their relationship. This resulted in losing Kate but gaining the career she wanted.
Back at the Crows’ headquarters, Sophie tells Tyler the truth about her past relationship with Kate. She is incapable of admitting her feelings for Kate have gone away.
Kate rejoins Luke and Julia at the Wayne Enterprises, revealing how things went with Sophie. Just as the trio were entering the Batcave, Mary comes in, nearly finding out their secret. While she wants to discuss their family implosion. Kate is dismissive, leaving Mary to believe no one cares about keeping the family together.

Catherine visits Jacob at his office, informing him of the sniper’s targets. She reveals a way to track the gun. Sophie interrupts, asking for a moment alone with Jacob. She tells Jacob Batwoman’s true identity, urging him to stop the sniper.
Alice makes the trade – the gun for a vile The Rifle’s boss provided.
With Catherine’s information, Sophie searches for the gun that can kill Batwoman. She encounters Julia as Batwoman, believing Kate to be in the suit just as Kate walks up. The gun that can penetrate the suit shoots Julia, and the Crows apprehend her. After calling Luke, Kate tracks down Julia, rescuing her from the Crows’ transport vehicle.

After the attempted shot on Batwoman, The Rifle confronts Alice about the projectiles in the gun not penetrating the bat suit, revealing his boss Safiyah will be upset. The mere mention of her name causes Alice to strike him. A flashback reveals Alice switched out the projectiles in the gun to save Kate.
While Kate patches her up, Julia apologizes for their past history. Luke informs them of Alice’s involvement in the Hamilton Dynamics engineers’ murders.
Once more, Sophie and Kate meet, with Kate wanting to keep her distance and Sophie admitting to setting things right with Jacob. Sophie makes amends with her husband, and Kate buys a bar.

The episode ends with Mouse removing the mask of Jacob Kane. He’s been impersonating him.
What an episode! This one took us through a journey of love, heartbreak and trust.
I enjoyed the flashbacks and the struggle both Sophie and Kate have navigating their feelings. The two of them, on their separate journeys after their breakup, always leave me wishing they could find their way back to one another.

Then, the surprise of Mouse being Jacob Kane! This definitely leaves me with so many questions. I also love Alice’s deviousness throughout this first season! I can’t wait to watch the next episode!
