Batgirl in Batman: Gotham Knights

During the DC FanDome event today, Warner Bros Games Montreal dropped a brand new trailer for their upcoming Batman game. While I love man behind the cape and cowl, my real love lies within the supporting characters. Which is why, Batman: Gotham Knights is by far one of the best things I have seen. The main character isn’t Batman himself, but four of his best proteges. Players will take control of Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood and Robin in either single player or two person co-op to take down some of Batman’s villains.

The trailer itself opens with news briefings of an explosion taking place at Bruce Wayne’s home. It then swaps to a recording from the man himself sharing that he is dead and that it is time for the group to come together to protect Gotham. Though things won’t be easy as after the death of Jim Gordon the police are not on their side. Within Batman: Gotham Knights each member of the Bat Family has their own special abilities based on the characters themselves. Robin hacks into the Justice League mainframe, allowing him to go invisible or teleport where Nightwing flips around like the acrobat he is.

After an action-packed trailer showing off all of the cool abilities we are going to be able to explore as we level our heroes, we get a look at the true bad guys. In the last few moments of the trailer we see the ominous Court of Owls. It only makes sense that they are making their move now that Batman is out of the picture. Along with the world premiere trailer, Warner Bros Games Montreal also showed off some of the game play in a separate video. This shows off the co-op game play including Batgirl and Robin going against Mr. Freeze.

Batman: Gotham Knights will release in 2021 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
