During DC FanDome yesterday, we got our first look at the upcoming HBO Max Batgirl series. Directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, screenwriter Christina Hodson and the star of the series Leslie Grace gave fans what we have been waiting for – some insight into the new film. While it hasn’t started production, they were eager to share as much as they possibly could!

They shared that Jones will be sporting red hair in Batgirl and that isn’t the only way they are taking her back to her roots. She will be sporting her iconic cape and cowl instead of the domino mask that has become popular recently in the comics. During the panel, Hodson shared how this will be the first time Barbara will be stepping into the shoes of Batgirl and how she will be exploring both sides of her personality.

The concept art wasn’t the only thing they shared. We also got our first look at concept art for the film. The art features Batgirl looking out over Gotham City from her perch. We can see graffiti on the building and the darker tones we have come to know within the Batman franchise. We can clearly see her red hair, cape and cowl. I know it is just a little, but I will take anything as a long-time Batgirl fan! I have been waiting what seems like a lifetime for a live-action Batgirl film.
