The main reason that the release date has been bumped is to avoid spoilers for North American audiences. It will open day-and-date around the globe, according to The Hollywood Reporter. They reported the news on Thursday.

In the past, Marvel blockbusters have opened overseas a week earlier than the traditional North American first week of May release, in order to compete. But, Marvel executives like president Kevin Feige have been clear that the events of Infinity War will greatly effect the future of the Avengers. In fact, the title for Avengers 4 hasn’t been released because it, itself, is a spoiler. So, the premiere is coming all at once on this one. Get to it quick, or risk getting spoiled!!
