Netflix shared a first look at the Fire Nation royal family from its live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender this week on X/Twitter. Read on to check them out!

In a world divided into four nations, each is ruled by one of the four elements. Benders from each nation can manipulate an element, while the Avatar can control all four. The Avatar is meant to balance all four nations, but, as they say in the show, “when the world needed him most, he vanished.” After 100 years, a 12-year-old named Aang takes on the role. Together with his new friends, he must defeat the destructive Fire Lord Ozai and the Fire Nation.

Avatar: The Last Airbender aired on Nickelodeon from 2005 to 2008. Fans first heard of a live-action adaptation of Nickelodeon’s hit series in 2018. The project has no affiliation with Paramount’s Avatar Studios, created by the original creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko after they exited Netflix’s project in 2020. Since then, Netflix released a few cast images in September 2022 and a quick teaser trailer at TUDUM 2023 this June.

The main cast of Netflix’s adaptation includes Gordon Cormier as Aang, Kiawentiio as Katara and Ian Ousley as Sokka. Supporting cast members include George TakeiAmber Midthunder and Danny Pudi.
