August's Most Anticipated Games

Are you looking for a new game to dive into this month? Well, you’re in luck! August is jam-packed with new releases, and all of us at GGA have picked a few of our favorites. Here are the most anticipated games we’re looking forward to playing this month!

A Total War Saga: Troy
Anticipated games for August 2020: A Total War Saga: Troy
Anticipated Game: A Total War Saga: Troy (Creative Assembly)

As Odysseus himself, the player takes command of Greek forces in A Total War Saga: Troy and lays siege to Troy’s legendary city. The turn-based strategy real-time tactics game offers three unique historical scenarios for accomplishing this. In addition to the infamously deceptive Trojan Horse, Odysseus can alternatively assault the walls with gargantuan siege towers, or he can breach the walls after “Poseidon’s wrath” (earthquakes) ravages Troy’s defenses. Despite a setting of literally epic proportions, the Trojan War is rarely trodden upon in video games. The developers at Creative Assembly have made a game that feels extremely new by creating an ancient setting. Experience the truth behind Troy’s legend or rewrite history in the most anticipated Total War game since 2000’s Shogun: Total War!

A Total War Saga: Troy will be available on August 13, 2020 for PC through the Epic Games Store

Anticipated Game: Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions (Tamsoft / Bandai Namco)

“What video game would you get if you fused FIFA 20 with Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot?” I’m not sure if anyone has seriously asked this question, but the answer is unquestionably Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions. The Captain Tsubasa series takes the familiar formula of sports games and cranks the action up to 11 with over-the-top anime style and character-specific powers that allow players to steal the ball, shoot goals and outpace other players. Rise of New Champions focuses more on online play, with gamers worldwide playing one-on-one or two-on-two matches with custom teams. Players customize their squad and then climb the rankings in division leagues. Whether you are new to soccer or a longtime fan, see if you have what it takes to be named an international champion!

Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions releases on August 28, 2020 for the Nintendo Switch, PS4 and PC through Steam

The 2017 best-selling PlayStation 4 Exclusive has finally come to the PC! Set in the 31st century after the fall of technologically advanced society, Horizon Zero Dawn gives us a look into how humanity survived such a cataclysmic event. You are Aloy, a member of the Nora tribe, who travels the land in order to find out more about the “Derangement,” a virus that has infected thousands of Machines. What she unearths could change everything. The open-world map is a re-imagined version of the United States, specifically Colorado and surrounding areas. The story and characters are memorable, the gameplay and combat is fluid and challenging and the game is visually stunning. There is a reason Horizon Zero Dawn was one of the best games of 2017.
