Highlights:

  • Netflix released a new teaser for Arcane Season 2.
  • Warwick, a villain in the League of Legends universe, is the focus of the teaser, seeming to confirm the popular fan theory that he is Vander from Season 1.
  • Arcane Season 2 is confirmed for release on Netflix in November 2024.

Netflix and Riot Game’s first season of Arcane brought viewers to the world of League of Legends, telling the origin stories of some of its most popular characters. Now, we have our first major glimpse of Arcane season 2, thanks to a teaser released on X/Twitter on Jan. 5. In the 45-second clip, we bear witness to an experiment from Zaun’s most-famous mad scientist Singed in his natural habitat. If what fans think is happening is true, we may see one of Season 1’s most beloved characters again, but not how we remember him.

Here’s what we know about Arcane Season 2, confirmed for a November 2024 release.

“A Nightmarish Augmentation”

A clip from the teaser for Arcane Season 2. A very green-lit shot, shows a monster-like creature dangling from the ceiling by wires. That creature is believed to be Warwick from League of Legends.

The trailer seems to corroborate a fan theory that circulated the internet following the open-ended finale of Season 1. It gives us a glimpse into Warwick, a villain for the upcoming season of Arcane. From League of Legends lore, Warwick is a werewolf-like champion created by Singed’s experiments, pumped full of stimulants to become a bloodthirsty animal.

In the clip, Warwick’s massive body dangles from the ceiling as chemicals are drained into his body by Singed. It confirms that he will be in the upcoming season — but who exactly is Warwick? If fans are correct, then Vander, the father figure to Jinx and Vi, may still be alive after the explosion in the first season. For lovers of the character, that isn’t a good thing at all — it’s likely his personality is completely lost.

Vander’s final words to Vi before the explosion that we assumed took his life are, “No matter how the world tries to break you, protect the family.” If what is suggested in this trailer is true, that choice will be taken from him in his rebirth.

What Else We Know About Season 2

The Arcane clip does not give fans much to go on for the upcoming season. It shows the steam-punk-style world we are all too familiar with in Zaun, but only within the context of Singed’s laboratory. However, we do know that production began in November 2021 and that the voice actors for Vi (Hailee Steinfeld), Jinx (Ella Purnell), and Caitlyn (Katie Leung) are returning for their roles.

But with Warwick possibly being Vander, we can expect an emotional rollercoaster in a world already filled with chaos. After the insane cliffhanger ending of Season 1, we know war is on the way for Piltover and Zaun. Jinx appears to be completely resolute in her decision to fight, and Warwick will play a major role in that.
