Arcane Afterglow Lights It Up

With nearly 600,000 views in the week since its first episode’s debut, Arcane Afterglow clearly scratches an itch for fans of Arcane: League of Legends. In that first episode, co-creator Christian Linke and stars Ella Purnell and Hailee Steinfeld shared their thoughts and theories. They answered questions prepared by the producers, providing insight into the characters and reacting with natural enthusiasm to clips from Act 1.

This week, Reed Shannon joins them. He voices Firelights leader and Boy Savior, Ekko. The irony of this is that Ekko doesn’t even appear in Act 2, having been lost to the Hex Anomaly in Arcane Season 2 Episode 3, “Finally Got the Name Right.”

The panel chat highlights how everyone is processing Isha’s final act in Arcane Season 2 Episode 6, “The Message Hidden in the Pattern.” Purnell analyzes Jinx’s relationship with the young girl and asks Linke, with genuine angst, “What’s wrong with you? Why would you write that?” Additionally, they all celebrate everyone’s new favorite phrase and come to a consensus on which sister would win in a no-gadgets fight.

Steinfeld speaks to Vi’s downward spiral after splitting with Caitlin (Katie Leung) while Reed questions if there’s a future for the convict and the cupcake. With no Piltoverites present, it falls to Linke to speak to the pressure on the Kirraman heir’s shoulders. He also explains the function of the Black Rose in Season 2.

Arcane: League of Legends is currently streaming on Netflix. Act 3, the final chapter of the series drops on November 23.
