AQUAMAN’s Reputation Proceeds Him in New Ad

Updated on:

Thanks to DC, we have some new footage from Aquaman. If you didn’t think the 5 minute extended look two weeks ago was enough, well here’s a bit more. The 30 second ad gives us clips of new footage including a scene of Mera (Amber Heard) showing off her incredible power. Honestly, we get a lot in this mere 30 seconds.

We start with Arthur (Jason Momoa) at a bar with his aging father (Temuera Morrison) when someone suddenly pushes him. A large man asks him if he’s the “fish boy” from the TV. Now standing, Arthur corrects him and says he’s a “fish man”. You just know a bar fight is about to break up, unless his father stops him. The next new footage we see is an ensuing chase scene with Mera and Arthur in a presumably Atlantean ship. Who’s chasing them? Is it Orm’s (Patrick Wilson) men? We also cut back to Mera, eyes a glowing green, pushing water away. While editing says that Mera’s the one that saves Arthur from the tidal wave sent to crush his home, we don’t know for certain.

Other little clips include Arthur on a tropical beach somewhere. Another shot of the trident battle between Arthur and Orm. And finally, he gets punched by a pirate on the submarine we see him raise from the ocean. Unlucky for that pirate, it seems to barely effect Aquaman and he’s tossed away like a rag doll. It’s really surprising just how much they were showing in this trailer only a couple weeks after the extended look.

The only thing I’m pretty worried about is that there seems to be a lot of special effects. Even the battle between the brothers is heavily animated – and you can tell. Not that some of these things can be helped, mind you. But I also don’t wanna leave the theater with a headache. Still, a lot of the movie looks good and I’m looking forward to seeing more.
