ANT-MAN AND THE WASP Trailer Brings Us Seismic Fun

It’s finally here! Today Marvel released their first trailer for Ant-Man and The Wasp and it looks awesome! We get hints at a villain, we see the Pyms on the run with Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) on house arrest. There’s a lot to unpack in this trailer so let’s talk about it.

The trailer immediately addresses why The Wasp was not in Avengers: Civil War, with Lang asking Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) if she would’ve gone with him. She teases that they’ll never know but that he wouldn’t have gotten caught if she was there. But it seems like his stint in Civil War got Hope and her father Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) in trouble with the FBI, forcing them to go on the run. And it appears they have bigger issues than just the FBI. There’s someone else in a suit and mask causing trouble – though we don’t know how much. I’m going to call it now though – it’s Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet van Dyne. Especially because the suit seems to be struggling in our world. I just have a feeling… and yes I know Hannah John-Kamen has been cast as this version of Ghost but I can’t help my feelings.

But a lot of the fun comes from the creative ways they use size. We see that Giant Man will make a return but when they go small, that’s even more fun. Hank and Hope have been busy with their technology because they’re able to shrink their cars and resize them like it’s no big deal. They’re also able to shrink skyscrapers down to small luggage size. And, of course, one of my favorite methods – making small things get big. One of the best moments from Ant-Man was the giant Thomas the Tank Engine. In the trailer we have a Hello Kitty Pez head flying straight towards a pursuer! It’s just not going to get old for me.

I loved seeing Wasp’s powers and fighting style. Her wings add a whole new dimension to her fights and heck yes to blasters! Gotta love blasters. Frankly, it’s just really nice to see more ladies kicking butt. I’m glad that Hope will be able to shine even more in this film and hopefully her and Scott’s team up is a healthy portrayal. We’ll have to see when the film comes out but I’m optimistic.

The trailer crazy fun and you need to check it out below. Also be sure to check out the new poster below and tell us what you think! Are you looking forward to the film or are you all Marvel’d out? Let us know! Be sure to come back to Geek Girl Authority for more Marvel news.

From the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes Ant-Man and The Wasp, a new chapter featuring heroes with the astonishing ability to shrink. In the aftermath of Captain America: Civil War, Scott Lang grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a super hero and a father. As he struggles to re-balance his life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he’s confronted by Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside the Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from the past.

Ant-Man and The Wasp flies to theaters July 6th.
