An announcement for AMC's The Talamasca, which reads, "We watch and we are always there."

Who Are the Talamasca?

In the Anne Rice Immortal Universe, the men and women of the Talamasca secretly track and contain witches, vampires, and other supernatural beings. They maintain a balance that protects mortal humans and allows the immortals to live out their lives in peace if they choose.

Described by some as “psychic detectives,” many of Anne Rice’s characters were members of the Order of the Talamasca before crossing over to become immortals. The Talamasca headquarters is in London although they operate offices worldwide.

Who is Guy Antole?

Today’s casting announcement is huge. Nicholas Denton will play the series lead, Guy Antole, a brilliant and handsome law school student, who learns he’s been on the Talamasca radar since childhood. Suddenly, he finds himself deeply entrenched in a world of secret agents and the supernatural. Adding ever-swirling depths to the narrative, Antole must learn to walk safely between worlds while his secret powers are locked in a mind that’s always worked a little differently.

Who is Nicholas Denton?

Best known as Valmont in Starz’s 2022 series, Dangerous Liaisons, Denton worked in Australian theatre before appearing in the Aussie series Glitch. In an interview for Dangerous Liaisons, Denton and his romantic counterpart on the show, Alice Englert, liken their love story to a horror movie. Will Denton find the fantastical journey Antole embarks on to be just as genre-blending?

What Else Should We Know?

Under the working title, Anne Rice’s The Talamasca, the first season will consist of six episodes. Production begins next month in Manchester. Oscar-nominated John Lee Hancock acts as both EP and director, while serving as co-showrunner with Mark Lafferty.
