Some anime openings are just too good to hit that skip button! There are many opening bops in anime that end up on my playlists because they are just that good. Everyone’s list of absolute favorites will be a little different, so you may not see your best bop make it here. If not, comment down below and tell us which anime opener stays stuck in your head and be sure to hit play on our list too!
Demon Slayer (2019-Present)
I knew I was going to love Demon Slayer from the opening notes of the first season’s theme song. It’s an epic bop that perfectly fits Tanjiro’s quest to avenge his slain family and cure his cursed sister after a demon attacks their home.

Sword Art Online (2012)
People have a lot of opinions on Sword Art Online, but one thing we can all agree on is the opening song for season one is a serious bop. The anime is set in a fictional MMORPG fantasy world, and I’m glad that the writing doesn’t feel too futuristic but instead tends to lean into the adventure aspects of the anime.

My Dress-Up Darling (2022)
My Dress-Up Darling is one of my current favorite anime. I’m getting sad as we near the end of season one, but all of those feelings are chased away as soon as the opener starts. Light and upbeat, the opening song perfectly fits this sweet slice of life anime.

Sleepy Princess in a Demon Castle (2020)
Sleepy Princess in a Demon Castle is an adorable anime about a kidnapped princess and has an equally adorable opening theme song! I could never make myself skip it just because it is such a bop with the catchy lyrics, unique timing and our princess’s sweet voice making my head bounce in time with the beat!

Ouran High School Host Club (2006)
When I first heard this opening in 2006, it made me (kiss, kiss) fall in love with this series. It’s the perfect opener for a romantic comedy and sets the viewer up with an excellent preview of the anime’s tone. Beyond all of that, it is an iconic song that is beloved by fans of the series everywhere. If there is ever a reboot of Ouran High School Host Club, this bop stays.

Soul Eater (2008)
Speaking of iconic, I would have some Soul Eater stans after me if I didn’t include its first opener, Resonance, on the list. The build of this one is frenzied and chaotic in the best way. It’s at its peak with the opening cinematic, but this one is still worthy of any playlist on its own.

Yuri on Ice (2016)
Yuri on Ice has one of the best openers of any anime I’ve ever watched. History Maker by Dean Fujioka, which has become synonymous with the anime, recently got a remake, but it is this version that fans first fell in love with. The original arrangement is a jaunty, uplifting piece that makes you feel like you can take on the world.

My Hero Academia (2016)
Everyone loves a good underdog story, and that’s why Deku’s journey, from ultimate fanboy to hero of tomorrow, in My Hero Academia captured the hearts of so many anime fans. Accompanying this tale of perseverance is the opener, The Day, an upbeat bop that could rival any other opener in the shonen genre.
