April is nearly here, closing the 2021 winter anime season and ushering in the spring 2022 anime season! With that in mind, there will be a lot of new shows coming out that you won’t want to miss. We’ve compiled a list of everything coming out on all platforms for your convenience! 

When reading this, please keep in mind that due to the Funimation/Crunchyroll merger, there is no new anime debuting on Funimation. Funimation will continue to add episodes of current shows, but new series will air exclusively on Crunchyroll. We will miss Funimation, but as we look to the future, we have everything here you should be watching.

Pokémon Master Journeys: The Series (Part 3) – TBA

We aren’t sure when the third part of Pokémon Master Journeys will debut, but based on the trend for previous installments of the Pokémon series, we assume it will arrive this month. Hopefully, we won’t have to wait long to catch new episodes of Ash’s adventures on Netflix!

Science Fell in Love, So I Tried to Prove it – April 1

Basking in the sun’s rays, Himuro and Yukimura embrace and share a tender kiss. But was it perfect? Rushing back to the lab for the results, they meet the seductive Fujiwara and her handsome partner, Chris, who’ve performed a dynamic analysis in love’s pursuit. But is this new couple competition, or can they reveal some insight into their studies? We will be conducting our research on Crunchyroll on April 1.

Mahjong Soul Pon – April 1 

Straight from the online game Mahjong Soul comes Mahjong Soul Pon, the new comical mini-anime adaptation of the game in which the one-of-a-kind Mahjong players dream big and go for Thirteen Orphans. The Mahjong Soul Shrine is holding truly extravagant festivities centering around Ichihime! Are you ready to play the game fair and square? We will be testing our skills on Crunchyroll, starting April 1.

Fanfare of Adolescence – April 2

Into sports anime? We’ve got something new for you! Students need to be book smart and athletic at the all-boys Horse Racing School. Three new students—a famous idol, another from a remote island and one from England unsure of his path—come to this elite school to pursue their dreams of becoming jockeys. We will be racing to watch this anime on Crunchyroll, starting April 2. 


If you are into unusual sports, stick around for this one! Ryo Mizushima dreams of being the best badminton player in the world. But despite his natural athleticism and skill—he’s only able to get so far without a reliable coach—everything changes when his talent gets him scouted by one of the most prestigious high school badminton teams.

Now, with a pro coach and an elite team to back him up, it’s time for Ryo’s journey to soar. We will be cheering on Ryo on Crunchyroll, starting April 2.

BUILD-DIVIDE -#000000- CODE BLACK – April 2

Big on fantasy and high-concept themes? Look no further. Three years have passed since Teruto’s battle, and Neo Kyoto is in ruins. Now people are rounded up by KUGE, the King’s servants, stealing their magical power, all for their leader to survive. Kikka finds herself on the run from the guards, too. Helpless with no Build-Divide deck, she finds help in another. Tune in to decipher this world on Crunchyroll, starting April 2. 

Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story – April 3

Magical girl anime fans, gather around! Learn the truth that few people know: the world is safe thanks to the Magical Girls who slay Witches. Even though these girls put their lives on the line for a wish, rumors say they can be saved in Kamihama City. That’s where Iroha Tamaki goes in search of answers. Follow her magical journey on Crunchyroll, starting April 3. 

Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs – April 3

The title of this one says it all. An office worker is reincarnated into a dating sim, but not as the main character — as a mob! He is content to live a simple life with his knowledge of the game until he’s forced into an arranged marriage. We will undoubtedly fall in love with this anime in no time. The game starts on Crunchyroll on April 3. 

Tomodachi Game – April 5

This next anime gives us big Danganronpa vibes. High school student Katagiri Yuichi, who values friendship above all else, enjoys a fulfilling life with his close friends Sawaragi Shiho, Mikasa Tenji, Shibe Makoto and Kokorogi Yutori. However, they’re dragged into a debt repayment game after a particular incident. Watch while on the edge of your seat on Crunchyroll, starting April 5.

The Rising of the Shield Hero (Season 2)- April 6 

The wait is over! Naofumi Iwatani is back again for a second season to carry his team through endless trials. Fans have eagerly awaited the return to the video game-esque high fantasy world of Melromarc into which hero Naofumi was summoned. The adventure continues on Crunchyroll, starting April 6. 

The Greatest Demon Lord Is Reborn as a Typical Nobody – April 6 

The most powerful Demon Lord in history, Varvatos, felt he accomplished everything he could as a king. Because he was so alone due to his powers, he longed for a simpler life. A few millennia later, Varvatos is reborn as the villager, Ard Meteor.

But in the future, magical civilization declines, and magic itself is weaker. Watch his power rise on Crunchyroll, starting April 6. 

Skeleton Knight in Another World – April 7

When Arc wakes, he discovers he’s in another world in the body of the character he played in an MMO. He is the Skeleton Knight, looking like a suit of armor and a skeleton on the inside. Can he avoid detection from the monster hunters? Find out on Crunchyroll, starting April 7. A warning: this anime contains adult themes and potentially triggering imagery, so keep that in mind if you start the trailer.

The Dawn of the Witch – April 7

Seville is a student at a magic academy who has no memories of anything from before he joined the school. This anime tells the story of how a young man, a boy who isn’t unique and his companions, who all hold wounds in their hearts, set out and find themselves. Join the adventure on Crunchyroll, starting April 7.
