Nintendo‘s Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been widely popular since its release last month. The cute island simulator whisks players away to their very own island to harvest trees, plant flowers, hang out with their fellow animal villagers. Honestly it is the perfect escape from the world right now and I think everyone can agree. Recently we finished Bunny Day with all of the eggs you could ever need in your life and now they are back at it again with a brand new free update that released today! Get ready because we are breaking down the newest updates coming in-game.

New Visitors

Unless you just started playing the game, you have most likely been visited by the few visitors that are currently in the game. Well now we are getting even more visitors to our shores and they are bringing in some pretty sweet stuff. First, we have Leif, the adorable gardening sloth, who has brought along new bushes and flowers that can not be found on your island. He popped up in player’s games today to help kick off the Nature day event which we will go into more detail down below.

The next new visitor is Jolly Redd and his treasure ship will appear docked right off your islands secret beach. He will sell both fine art and furniture. But be careful island friends, some of his art isn’t the real deal! It will be our job to try and pick out the real pieces of art from a group of forgeries. Data miners have learned that you are only able to buy one piece of art from his ship while he is visiting. So get your art eyes on folks and find yourself a real gem.

Museum Update

If catching all of the current fish and bugs while simultaneously trying to find and complete all of the fossils wasn’t enough, Blather’s is ready to expand the island museum! Using items collected from Jolly Redd’s treasure trawler to help fill our the art section of the museum. This is one of my favorite updates! Animal Crossing: New Horizons is my first game in the series so I am coming into all of this pretty blind. I will admit I was worried that once my museum was finished I wouldn’t have a reason to visit Blather’s anymore, but now I won’t have to worry!

Upcoming Seasonal Events

The biggest part of the update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons comes in the form of upcoming seasonal events! Today officially kicked off the Nature Day event in-game complete with new Nook Miles plus tasks for the player to complete. In return for completing today’s task, I was gifted a DIY for hedges! This event runs until May 4, 2020, so make sure to hop on and stretch those green thumbs! The next event is May Day! It runs from May 1, 2020 to May 7, 2020 and lets players tour a special May Day island that looks like a pretty fantastic maze that we get to run through and collect items from!

Then from May 18, 2020 to May 31, 2020 is International Museum Day! Players will get to explore the museum and fill up their stamp collection by visiting each of the exhibits. This event really means a lot to me as all of our museums are currently closed due to COVID-19. The final event Wedding Season runs from June 1, 2020 to June 30, 2020 over on Harvey’s island! We are going to help Harvey by setting up staging for anniversary photos for cute couples!

We are really excited about these updates and can’t wait to dive into all of the upcoming events! Which ones are you most excited about? Let us know in the comments below and on social media!

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available to play now on the Nintendo Switch!
