No need to run around like a chicken with your head cut off or stomp like a bull in a china shop — Animal Control will return for Season 4. The low-stakes, comfort comedy on FOX is poised to deliver its best season yet after a narratively rich Season 3 finale left us with a few loose threads flapping in the breeze. While we wait impatiently for Season 4, here are seven questions I hope the next batch of episodes answers.
How Will the Aftermath Play Out From Emily and Shred’s Kiss?

*Starts blasting Faith Hill* “This kiss, this kiiisss!” I’m a ’90s kid; it had to be done.
In the Season 3 finale, Emily (Vella Lovell) and Shred (Michael Rowland) finally kiss, after three seasons of mutual pining. And it’s none other than Oreo the Penguin who brings the two together for the smooch. Of course, this happens after Shred and Isabelle (Chelsea Frei) mend fences following a dispute in the previous episode, seemingly strengthening their relationship.
So, this begs the question: What will happen after that kiss? I can’t picture Shred keeping this secret from Isabelle. The very act of withholding something this big smacks of dishonesty and is antithetical to his character. However, would Emily feel comfortable pursuing a relationship with Shred, even if he becomes single in the aftermath? Only time will tell.

Will Frank Finally Tell Victoria How He Feels?

Frank (Joel McHale) exhibits quite a bit of character growth in the Season 3 finale, starting with being honest about his feelings for Victoria (Grace Palmer). Hey, if someone gifted me a panini press, I’d fall head over heels, too. Frank drives to Victoria’s apartment for a grand romantic gesture. However, he spies her getting closer to Parker (Josh Segarra), which certainly throws a wrench in his plan.
Could Frank finally tell Victoria how he feels in Animal Control Season 4? Much of Frank’s journey on the show has been about accessing his ooey-gooey center, past his hardened shell. Part of that is having him partner with Shred, who is in touch with his emotions. We’ve seen Frank slowly — ever so slowly — crack open, and confessing his feelings to Victoria would be a significant step in the right direction for him.
Naturally, because this is a sitcom, nothing will play out as intended or planned. And that’s how we like it.
Can We Expect More of Parker?
I think it’s safe to say we can, but the question warrants asking. After all, Josh Segarra is a busy man. Parker will undoubtedly be an obstacle to Frank and Victoria’s inevitable union. Might we see Parker and Frank go toe-to-toe for Victoria’s love? It’s an overdone TV trope, but this show could inject new energy into it.
Side note: I demand more scenes featuring Shred and Parker as roommates. Let’s nurture that dynamic.

Will Patel and Shred Finally Flip Their Renovated House?

Patel (Ravi V. Patel) and Shred have a multi-season side quest in the form of renovating and flipping a house. In the penultimate episode of Season 3, they have their first open house. Shred and Isabelle pose as a married couple interested in buying said house to stoke the flames of competition among the prospective buyers.
So, could these two crazy kids (and one of my favorite comedic pairings, to be honest) finally flip that house? Might this eventually lead to more real estate adventures for Patel and Shred if this first venture is successful?
Could Fiona Holcomb Retaliate?

Fiona (Lucy Punch) is an intriguing recurring character in Animal Control Season 3. She starts as Emily’s billionaire benefactor before morphing into Frank and Victoria’s FOB, thus catalyzing Frank and Victoria as a pairing. She’s a great plot device. Of course, Victoria and Frank break their NDAs and host a rager at Fiona’s mansion while she’s out. Fiona ends things with them and pulls necessary funding for our titular precinct.

While it might seem like beating a dead narrative horse, is there more storytelling room for Fiona? Could she return in Season 4 to exact retaliation against Frank and Victoria, or will she brush it off, deeming them beneath her? After all, she is in the one percent regarding societal wealth. She’s too rich to deal with drama. That said, it might be interesting to see her again.
How Will Frank and Roman Handle Interacting More Since Roman Has a Stake in the Precinct?

Joel McHale and Ken Jeong have been comedy dynamite since their time together on Community. Jeong recurs in this series as Roman Park, a dog trainer who’s now obscenely rich. He saves our precinct by becoming its next benefactor, making Emily’s dream outdoor kennel a reality. Roman warns Frank that they’ll be seeing more of each other now, indicating Jeong will have a larger presence in Season 4.
So, what will their interactions look like now that Roman has a stake in the precinct? Hopefully as biting as they have been hilarious thus far. Bring on more of that rivalry.

Will We Ever Meet Emily and Shred’s Families?
We’ve met family members of Frank, Patel and Victoria on Animal Control. This includes Frank’s brother and father, Patrick (Thomas Lennon) and Jimmy (John Procaccino) Shaw. Patel’s parents, Mr. (Vasant K. Patel) and Mrs. (Champa V. Patel) Patel, and his daughter, Addy (Dayah Brar). Fun fact: Vasant and Champa are Ravi Patel’s real-life parents.
We’ve also met Patel’s (the character) wife, Maya (Kalyn Miles). As for Victoria, Grace Palmer’s real-life sister Eve Palmer plays her onscreen sister, Melinda. Fun fact number two: McHale’s son, Isaac, cameos in Season 3’s penultimate episode. This show is a family affair.
All this to say, it’s time we meet Emily and Shred’s respective families. That could happen in Season 4 if they decide to start a relationship. And if not, we should still meet them regardless. Family dynamics are ripe for comedy.
Animal Control Seasons 1 through 3 are now streaming on Hulu.
