What’s better than a zoo breakout? Seattle’s favorite merry band of misfits saving the animals before they wreak havoc, that’s what. FOX’s delightfully low-stakes, cheeky comedy Animal Control is back for Season 3. “Giraffes, Gorillas, and Penguins” is a fun season opener that brings the great Sarah Chalke back into the fold as Yazmin. Of course, Frank’s commitment issues rear their collective ugly head, making for some good old-fashioned comedic hijinks.
To celebrate the return of Animal Control, here are my favorite quotes from Season 3 Episode 1. Thumbs!

Toe the Line
PATEL: “Everything I do mortifies her. I can’t even take my socks off without her groaning.”
VICTORIA: “But I’ve seen you take off your socks, and it’s weird. You do it toe by toe like a burlesque dancer.”
Listen, I’m equal parts mortified and fascinated by Patel (Ravi V. Patel) removing his socks “toe by toe like a burlesque dancer,” as Victoria (Grace Palmer) puts it. Is it weird that I now have to see it to believe it? Also, I’m picturing toe socks based on this description (if you’re a millennial and you’re having war flashbacks to wearing toe socks in the late ’90s/early 2000s, I’m sorry).
VICTORIA: “I know the shame of being carried unconscious from a kids’ party.”
I think we need more Victoria party girl scenes. She’s just a blast and a half. Really, you can’t drop a banger of a line like this with zero context. As we learn right after this quote, Patel has his own kids’ party-related albatross — not getting back the deposit for a bouncy house. Both lines demonstrate the stark differences between Victoria and Patel (and why they’re so great together).

Copy That
FRANK: “You guys considered making this relationship long-distance? Over by the copier is fine.”
If there’s one thing Frank’s (Joel McHale) gonna do, it’s be Frank (and be frank). To be fair, I’d get annoyed, too, if my coworker’s girlfriend was taking her shoes off within a few feet of my desk and they were packing on the PDA. No offense, Shred (Michael Rowland) and Isabelle (Chelsea Frei). Besides, getting steamy near the copier is a tried and true office romance stereotype.

EMILY: “Now she’s beautiful. She was pretty, but now she’s beautiful. She’s had a makeover over the course of this conversation, which is great for her. And I hear it; I’m spiraling a little bit, so I should probably deal with that — even though I’ve never been so productive in my life. I mean, I’ve already done next year’s taxes somehow, and I don’t even know how much I made.”
I relate to Emily (Vella Lovell) so much, and Lovell’s comedic timing is pitch-perfect. She makes this monologue hilariously (and perhaps painfully) relatable. As someone who’s spiraled over a work crush (Who hasn’t?), I can safely say I’ve been there. I can’t say it’s made me that productive, though. If there’s one thing I’ll wait until the absolute last minute to do, it’s my taxes.

We’re Halfway There
SHRED: “It’s hard to take the moral high ground when you’re halfway out of a bathroom, bud.”
FRANK: “I’d like to think that I’m halfway in the bathroom — I’m a pessimist.”
Let’s face it; Frank’s a glass-half-empty kinda guy. Frank might not have the moral high ground here, but he’s literally high above the ground. If anything, it’s better to be halfway in the bathroom than halfway out and on the precipice of falling. You know, from a safety perspective.
