The Rebellion begins with one spark — Cassian Andor. Disney unveiled the official trailer for Andor, a Star Wars series starring Diego Luna as the titular hero. This story focuses on the character’s contributions to the Rebellion, leading to his tragic fate and heroic ending in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Here’s a synopsis for Andor per Disney’s media site

“The Andor series will explore a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference he can make. The series brings forward the tale of the burgeoning Rebellion against the Empire and how people and planets became involved. It’s an era filled with danger, deception and intrigue where Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero.”

The Andor trailer shifts its focus to the supporting cast, giving us a more concrete glimpse of Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera and Stellan Skarsgård as Luthen Rael. Additionally, we see Adria Arjona‘s character facing arrest and Genevieve O’Reilly‘s Mon Mothma explaining how folks don’t understand what she’s cooking. Meanwhile, we peek at Kyle Soller‘s seemingly insidious character and watch while Fiona Shaw‘s Maarva sheds a tear.

It’s beautiful to witness O’Reilly and Whitaker’s return to the Star Wars universe alongside Luna. Plus, these new faces are intriguing enough based on the trailer alone. I love that we don’t get the whole story from a two-minute trailer. Andor provides enticing imagery and captivating action while giving us a general taste of what we can expect. A show about an established character like Cassian Andor doesn’t need to reveal its full hand.
