Andi Brand

Fast Facts:

Helen "Andi" searching one of the rooms in dark.

Cassandra “Andi” Brand (Janelle Monáe) was one of the founding members of Alpha alongside Miles Bron (Ed Norton). That is until he decides to take complete control of the company and lie about how it was all founded. A few years later, she is invited on an extravagant weekend away on Bron’s private island to solve his “murder.”

Andi’s appearance has everyone on edge, trying to figure out precisely what her angle is. After the death of Duke (Dave Bautista), she is shot and presumably killed. But plot twist! Not only is Andi alive. She isn’t actually Andi. She is Andi’s twin Helen who came to the island to figure out which of Andi’s friends killed her.

It turns out that Helen has been posing as her sister and working alongside master detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig). She has been playing her own little game of Clue, trying to figure out who had the motive, opportunity and means to kill Andi and stage her death. Alongside Blanc, she uncovers the truth and delivers her punishment in her own way.

The Real Deal:

Helen "Andi" destroying all of Miles' glass sculptures.

Helen “Andi” Brand is the real deal. Helen travels halfway across the world with a smashed-up box to convince Blanc to take on the mystery of her sister’s death. She knows that he might tell her there is nothing to be done, but she still wants to try. Helen even goes as far as becoming her sister in order to go undercover on the island. She would do anything for those she cares about – even take a bullet.

Why She Matters:

So, why does Helen “Andi” Brand matter? Because Helen is a badass, takes no crap, fierce woman. She risks life and limb to travel to an island with a group of people who lied on the stand to protect themselves, and all have a reason to want her dead. And when things don’t go exactly how she hopes, thanks to her only piece of physical evidence going up in smoke, Helen finds a way to dish out some real justice.

So, be like Helen “Andi” Brand. Stand up for what is right, throw a mega hissy fit every once in a while and be the best novice detective you can be.
