Not much is known about this latest offering of alien fare, Arrival. What we do know is these aliens at least appear peaceful, landing on earth and meeting with Earth representatives.
From the brief glimpse we get here, it’s peaked my interest. It’s nice to have a science fiction movie involving aliens where they are not actively attempting to destroy us. I love a good disaster flick as much as the next person, and I do love my hostile alien invasion movies, but it’s nice to see something that may be a counterpoint to all the death and destruction.
Who knows, this could end up the traditional aliens want to kill us all movie. However, maybe, just maybe, this will be an invasion where we actually know why the visitors want us dead. Full trailer drops on 8/16, hopefully giving us more information.
Until then, here is the official synopsis:
When mysterious spacecrafts touch down across the globe, an elite team – lead by expert linguist Louise Banks (Amy Adams) – is brought together to investigate. As mankind teeters on the verge of global war, Banks and the team race against time for answers – and to find them, she will take a chance that could threaten her life, and quite possibly humanity.
Arrival hits theaters November 11, 2016.
Directed by Denis Villeneuve.
Written by Ted Chiang (short Story), Eric Heisserer (screenplay).
Starring Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, and Forest Whitaker.
