The cast of the upcoming Blumhouse and EPIX feature, American Refugee, has just been announced! The leading players include Erika Alexander, Derek Luke and Sam Trammell. Its supporting cast consists of Zamani Wilder, Jessi Case and Vince Mattis. Additionally, the movie will introduce newcomer Peyton Jackson.
American Refugee tells the story of “a family seeking shelter in a neighbor’s bunker while the American economy is in collapse and the nation under martial law.” After a while, it seems the danger inside the bunker may be more terrifying than the danger outside.
About American Refugee
Both Luke and Alexander have collaborated with Blumhouse previously. Alexander starred in Get Out while Luke was featured in the television series The Purge. Other titles fans will recognize Alexander from include Black Lightning, Wu-Tang: An American Saga and Living Single. As for Luke, viewers will know him from 13 Reasons Why, The Americans and Miracle at St. Anna.
While new to Blumhouse, Trammell is known for his roles in True Blood, The Fault in Our Stars and Homeland. He’s also a Tony Award nominee for his part in the revival of Eugene O’Neill‘s Ah, Wilderness!
Jackson, who’s still new to the world of acting, made his big-screen debut in Tyler Perry‘s film Nobody’s Fool. He’s also appeared on The Resident, First Christmas and Respect.
American Refugee is the second installment in the eight-movie deal between Blumhouse and EPIX. The film is currently in production in New Orleans, LA. Ali LeRoi is at the helm as director with a script written by Allison and Nicolas Buckmelter. Jason Blum, Chris McCumber and Jeremy Gold will be executive producing for Blumhouse alongside Lisa Bruce.
