American Princess is the new dramedy from the creators of Orange is the New Black. It follows Amanda, (Georgia Flood) a young woman who has a breakdown… or an epiphany, after a very dramatic interruption of her wedding day. Her discovery of the Renaissance Faire and the community within it are her solace and our delight.
Created by writer/actor Jamie Denbo, the show gives a hilarious window into the raucous and raunchy renn faire lifestyle. Friendship, acceptance and romance are all in store for Amanda at the low-brow faire, in great contrast to her high society family and wedding troubles.
Lucas Neff (Raising Hope) plays Amanda’s possible new, and very hydrated, love interest. Rory O’Malley (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) plays this renn faire’s own version of the Bard. It looks like a really fun, funny, weird little rom-com!
American Princess is produced by Jenji Kohan, Tara Herrmann and Mark A. Burley, and will start airing on Lifetime, Saturday June 2. The Hollywood Reporter reported, Saturday.
