After much anticipation, we finally have a first look at AMC’s Interview with the Vampire. The show is an adaptation of the 1976 Anne Rice novel. Last week, People magazine released the first look photos and a teaser trailer showed up on the show’s official Twitter account on Sunday.

Interview with the Vampire stars Sam Reid as Lestat de Lioncourt and Jacob Anderson as Louis de Pointe du Lac. The book is told from Louis’ perspective, about the ending of his mortal life and the beginning of his life as a vampire. Lestat is Louis’ maker and they have love-hate relationship throughout the book. Throw a child into the mix and it’s almost becomes a dysfunctional family drama. That child is Claudia, played by Bailey Bass.

There’s not much to go by from the teaser trailer, but it looks like the story is not set in the 1700’s. The book is set 1791 and the main story goes into the 1800’s. There is a car parked on the New Orleans street. That’s definitely something from the 20th century. The photos also appear to be set in the 20’s.

“Developing this series carries great pressure and responsibility,” executive producer Marc Johnson said. “What Anne Rice created and what her fans have been transfixed by forces us to take this book-to-television show transition with a great deal of responsibility. It is imperative that we do not disappoint her fans and yet we need to make sure that this story, these characters sing for a modern audience.”

Interview with the Vampire also stars Christian Robinson, Kalyne Coleman, and Eric Bogosian. Rice served as executive producer before her death in December 2021. Her son, Christopher Rice, is an executive producers on the show with Johnson. Rolin Jones is creator, showrunner, and executive producer. Alan Taylor directed the series first two episodes and serves as executive producer. The series will have seven episodes. Check out the photos and trailer below. Here’s the synopsis:

“Based on Anne Rice’s iconic and bestselling novel, the series follows Louis de Pointe, Lestat De Lioncourt and Claudia’s epic story of love, blood and the perils of immortality.”

Interview with the Vampire will be available on AMC and AMC + in Fall 2022.
