One of the biggest mysteries has been Amazon’s adaptation of The Lord of the Rings. All we really know from the series is the incredible budget they’ve put into it, a rough timeline, and just how secret the production is. We know pretty much nothing about it. Well, the production team decided to give fans something to chew on while they wait. Sadly, it’s not a teaser but instead an interactive map

On the official Twitter, the team teased what was to come with a quote from the man himself. “‘I wisely started with a map’ — J.R.R. Tolkien”. Since then, they’ve been giving out more information as the days go by. First, they gave us a blank map with none of the realms labeled. Yesterday, they showed a new map with some of the areas labelled. Mordor is on there of course but there’s some others you may not recognize. Harad, Khand, Eriador, Lindon, Rhûn, Forodwaith, Rhovanion, and Calenardhon. They might not be recogniazble as they are the Elven names of realms of long ago. For example, Calenardhon is the first name of Rohan, when it was still part of Gondor.

As the Twitter is introducing each new map with part of the Rings of Power poem, it’s likely we’ll be seeing more updates to the map. Since there is nothing yet to explore outside of looking at all the details, it’s going to be interesting to see what they do with it. Will we be able to click on the map and learn some information on it? Will we see yet another updated map with more of the realms listed on it? Only time will tell.

What do you think of the maps? See if you can find The Shire without looking! Be sure to come back to Geek Girl Authority for more The Lord of the Rings on Prime news.
