Joseph Mawle is going to Middle Earth, this according to a Deadline report. Game of Thrones fans will recognize Mawle as Ned Stark’s younger brother and member of the Night’s Watch, Benjen. Uncle Benjen! Mawle will join previously announced cast Will Poulter and Markella Kavenagh in Amazon’s epic fantasy Lord of the Rings.
Not much about the characters are known except that it is believed that Mawle will play a villain named Oren, Poulter is playing a lead character, Beldor and Kavenagh is playing a lead named Tyra.
Amazon has been very tight lipped about Lord of the Rings. What we do know is that it takes place during the Second Age, long before the events in Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Hobbit. We think Númenor may play a big part in the series. During The Second Age, Middle Earth saw the first defeat of Sauron, Númenor was a kingdom of men but is destroyed by the end of that age. Aragorn is a descendent of the first King of Númenor.
