The Expanse is certainly space bound after a very successful San Diego Comic Con panel and season 4 trailer debut. Evidently, they had further to burn. At TCA 2019 today, Amazon announced that the series has already been renewed for a fifth season and this is before the fourth season even premieres on December 12.
This is certainly great news for the die-hard fandom that The Expanse has earned. After three seasons on Syfy, the show was canceled sending many fans into a frenzy to get the show picked up by another studio. Enter Jeff Bezos and Amazon Prime who picked up the show to much ado. The series is produced by Alcon Television Group.
The Expanse is based on a book series by James S. A. Corey (The pseudonym for Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck). The book series takes place in a future where humans have colonized the solar system but not beyond. Until the upcoming fourth season.
