THE POWER Gets Electrifying First Trailer

Julia Roth

What if one day you woke up with incredible power? How would you use it? This is a question that is explored in Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming adaptation of Naomi Alderman’s The Power. The emotionally-driven series comes from showrunner Raelle Tucker. Prime Video dropped the official trailer showing off the electrifying series.

The Power is set in a world similar to ours, except that out of nowhere, every teenage girl develops the power to electrocute people at will. This shocking twist of fate sends the world into a spiral as they try to figure out what to do about it. The trailer starts off subtly as a daughter accidentally fries her dad’s car radio (and we thank her for it). But it seems like this isn’t the first time something has happened. As the trailer builds, we learn more and more about what is happening around the world.

We get to see several different examples of how people are using their power. Some are just trying to survive their teenage years without shocking their boyfriends, others are using their powers to perform miracles, and some are using this power to fight back. But, like anything people don’t understand, the world grows scared. And their way to deal with that fear is to find a way to explain what is happening and treat the girls as a threat. It’s clear to see where the emotional portion of this series is going to go.

The series stars Toni Collette, John Leguizamo, Auli’i Cravalho, Toheeb Jimoh, Josh Charles, Eddie Marsan, Ria Zmitrowicz, Zrinka Cvitešic and Halle Bush.

The Power‘s first three episodes hit the streaming service on March 31, 2023. A new episode will release every Friday after, leading up to the season finale on May 12, 2023.
