The second season of Netflix’s science fiction thriller Altered Carbon premieres at the end of the month. Today, we got a look at main character Takeshi Kovac’s new sleeve, Anthony Mackie.
In this futuristic world, you can live like an immortal (if you have enough money) by having your digitized consciousness or “cortical stack” put into another host body, called a sleeve.
For the first season of sci-fi series, the original Takeshi Kovacs was played by Will Yun Lee in flashbacks. In the present of this world, his sleeve was played by Joel Kinnaman.

The new teaser for the second season of doesn’t give up much on the plot but we know Kovacs is on a quest to find someone he thought was dead: creator of stack technology, leader of the Uprising, and his former love, Quellcrist Falconer (such a badass name). You get to see Anthony Mackie as Kovacs in the teaser and hear him say the following ominous words.
This is a ghost story.
Technology has conquered death.
But with endless future comes endless past.
We are trailed by specters. They cling to us like shadows.
But if you chase after your ghosts, you just might become one.

Here’s the official Altered Carbon Season Two summary: Takeshi Kovacs (Anthony Mackie), is the lone surviving soldier of a group of elite interstellar warriors, continuing his centuries old quest to find his lost love Quellcrist Falconer (Renée Elise Goldsberry). After decades of planet-hopping and searching the galaxy, Kovacs finds himself recruited back to his home planet of Harlan’s World with the promise of finding Quell. Haunted by his past and responsible for investigating a series of brutal murders, Kovacs is stunned to discover his new mission to solve the crime and his pursuit to find Quell are one and the same. With the help of his loyal A.I. Poe (Chris Conner), Kovacs must now partner with new allies to outwit his enemies and find the truth: Who is Quellcrist Falconer?
Season Two stars Anthony Mackie, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Lela Loren, Simone Missick, Chris Conner, Dina Shihabi and Torben Liebrecht. Will Yun Lee and James Saito guest star.
