Alfred Molina has all hands…or tentacles on deck as he dons the metal arms in time to reprise his roll in Spider-Man 3. Sources told The Hollywood Reporter that Molina will be taking up the mantle of Doctor Octopus. He originally portrayed the role in Sam Raimi‘s 2004 Spider-Man 2 as Otto Octavius and pushed Toby Maguire‘s Spidey to the limits. Rumors of Molina’s involvement started when GWW spotted him on set last month.

With Molina’s Doc Ock joining the ranks of villains in Spider-Man 3, we have officially crossed three generations of Spider-Man movies. In October we learned that Jamie Foxx would be reprising his role as Electro from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 starring Andrew Garfield‘s Spidey. Foxx also suggested in a now-deleted Instagram post that there might even be three different Spider-Men in the film. Which, if Tom Holland‘s current generation Spider-Man travels back in time to meet these other villains, could be totally possible!

Of course, Sony and Marvel have made no comment. In fact, they have been pretty tight-lipped when it comes to anything regarding the story or events happening within the film. We do know that Holland, Molina and Foxx will be joined by some familiar faces. Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei and Benedict Cumberbatch will be joining them as well. Jon Watts will be directing.

Spider-Man 3 is set to release on December 17, 2021. Let us know if you think we will be seeing all three generations of Spideys in the upcoming film!
