We’ve known about the voice cast for the Harley Quinn animated series for a few weeks now. The news premiered at NYCC 2018, where we learned that Kaley Cuoco would be playing the Clown Princess of Crime. Joining her would be a host of other actors in undisclosed roles. One of which, was recently revealed by actor Diedrich Bader (who will be voicing Batman). Who’s voicing Harley’s love interest and Batman’s greatest enemy?
Why it’s none other than Alan Tudyk! Best known for his roles on Firefly and Rogue One, the actor is said to be voicing Joker. According to Bader, he’s “hilarious” and did a recording session with him. The show will be aimed at adult fans, a fact that was made clear in the teaser and Bader confirmed it. “There’s a lot of dirty language in it!…It’s definitely an Adult Swim-esque take on it, so it’s darker, but it’s very funny.” He added “It’s gonna be a rockin’ good time”.

I really like the casting of Tudyk. I think he has great comedic timing and has a lot of charisma. And if we have to choose someone other than Mark Hamill to voice the character, I think he’s a great substitute! I’m still fairly unsure on the premise. I typically avoid any type of “animated adult comedy” series, just because it typically devolves into sex jokes and gore. But who knows, maybe this one will be different. Though given DC Universe‘s current lineup, it seems unlikely. They’re currently thriving on dark material.
Tudyk joins the already announced Lake Bell as Poison Ivy, Christopher Meloni as Jim Gordon (according to Bader) and Rahul Kohli as Scarecrow. Other actors who haven’t had their roles confirmed include Ron Funches, J. B. Smoove, Jason Alexander, Wanda Sykes, Giancarlo Esposito, Natalie Morales, Jim Rash, and Tony Hale. We won’t be able to see the series until next year but so far so good on the voice cast!
