We got our first look at the Aladdin film today and boy is it cinematic! The 1 minute and a half teaser trailer gives us a look at the scope of the film as well as a few characters we’re looking forward to. Are you ready to join up with the street rat?
The teaser shows us a long look at the ever expansive desert, a reminder of just how important civilization is. Agrabah looms in the distance as travelers make their way to a mysterious cave. A booming, threatening voice tells the travelers that only one may enter the cave, one who is worthy. Then we see the source of the voice, the iconic tiger-headed cave that slams it’s jaws shut once someone enters. They must be a “diamond in the rough”. Kind of like someone named Aladdin? The young man grabs a lamp in awe before it cuts to black.

While this is an incredibly small teaser as to what’s to come, it’s promising in it’s visuals. Director Guy Ritchie is known for his fast-paced, upclose camera angles, but there doesn’t seem to be too much in these shots. The shots of the desert are gorgeous, the hue is almost other-worldly. And of course the cavern looks pretty, too. There’s no shots of Genie, Jasmine, the Sultan, or Jafar but did you see Iago? I sure did! I’m looking forward to more.
