In the words of Baylan Skoll, “War is inevitable.” On Tuesday, Disney blessed us with the first official full-length trailer for Ahsoka, the impending Star Wars live-action series starring Rosario Dawson as the titular hero. As you can see in said trailer, the galaxy is fueling up for war.
We get a better look at Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) and hear Ezra Bridger’s voice (Eman Esfandi) as his hologram speaks to Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo). Additionally, the trailer gives us more context into who Baylan Skoll (the late, great Ray Stevenson) is and his connection to Anakin. In one scene, we learn that Baylan, Shin Hati (Ivanna Sakhno) and Morgan Elsbeth (Diana Lee Inosanto) are searching for Thrawn to have access to “great power.”

Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) appeals to the Senate (including Mon Mothma, played by Genevieve O’Reilly) for aid in fighting off the latest galactic threat. She also urges Ahsoka to reach out to Sabine. Ahsoka notes how Anakin left her before she finished training with him, and she did the same thing to Sabine.
This trailer showcases more of the relationships and dynamics between our core characters while illustrating an imminent battle as the Thrawn threat hits a fever pitch. I love the sneak peeks at the fight sequences, particularly the one featuring Shin Hati and Sabine. I’m also stoked to see the Ahsoka versus Baylan showdown.

Of course, the connective tissue between these characters besides Thrawn is Anakin and Ahsoka expertly builds on the excitement surrounding Hayden Christensen‘s reprising of the role. Yes, he was already in Obi-Wan Kenobi, but exploring Anakin’s dynamic with Ahsoka in a live-action format will be fun, even if it’s in flashback scenes.
Ahsoka stars Rosario Dawson, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ivanna Sakhno, Diana Lee Inosanto, Eman Esfandi, David Tennant, Lars Mikkelsen and Ray Stevenson. Check out the latest poster and official trailer below, and brace yourself for a Rebellion when the series premieres its first two episodes on August 23, 2023, only on Disney+.
