The fourth season of ABC’s hit Marvel series, Agents of SHIELD, decided to start their season off with a big swing for the mystical fences by including Ghost Rider in their line up. The season premiere kicked things off by showing us the character, Robbie Reyes, played by actor Gabriel Luna, going toe-to-flaming toe with the now rogue SHIELD agent Daisy Johnson, a.k.a. Quake, played by Chloe Bennett.
The effects for the Ghost Rider were great and the story, so far, is intriguing, but we’ve yet to have had this Ghost Riders’s particular origin — until now. ABC just released their episode summary for the sixth episode of the season, entitled “The Good Samaritan” and it promises to get into that story.
It’s unclear which origin we’ll see. In the comics, the original Ghost Rider, Johnny Blaze, was part of a family cursed ages ago, who would take on the mantle of Ghost Rider. With Robbie Reyes, the Ghost Rider in Agents of SHIELD, he actually dies and is then inhabited by a Spirit of Vengeance, the ghost of a deceased Satanic serial killer named Eli Morrow — who ends up also being his uncle.
Whether we’ll see the original Johnny Blaze origin story of him or the newer Robbie Reyes one is a mystery, but we won’t have to wait too long to have it solved as it’s only a couple weeks away now.
Episode 4.06 – The Good Samaritan
The shocking origin story of Robbie’s transition into Ghost Rider is revealed as the lives of Coulson and the team hang in the balance.
