The search for Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) continues on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.  In “Fear and Loathing on the Planet of Kitson,” Jemma (Elizabeth Henstridge) and Daisy (Chloe Bennet) go on a strange trip when they reach the Planet Kitson.  Fitz and Enoch (Joel Stoffer) are sidetracked on Kitson, when they become wanted men.

In Space

The episode begins with the introduction of a hunter named Malachi (Christopher James Baker). he goes through many files before finding Fitz and Enoch.  He uses a circular blade to open a breach that transports him to wherever he needs to go.

Agents Piper (Briana Venskus) and Davis (Maximilian Osinski) are not happy that Jemma set them on a course for Naro-Atzia. Daisy reminds them that their mission was to find Fitz. However, as commander, it was her call to decide their course of action. She is turning the ship around and going home. Jemma tells her to leave without her, but Daisy orders Jemma to stay on the ship.

They are interrupted by an incoming message from Pretorious Pryce (Clark Middleton). He was expecting them and tells them to prepare for inspection.  Daisy tells him that they won’t be staying and to let them leave. The station has the Zypher on a tracker beam.  And rules are rules, he has to inspect the ship.  Daisy gives in to comply.

Fitz and Enoch arrive on Kitson.  The two men who load up their cargo to be sold decide to rob the Terrans instead. They give Fitz one chip from the casino for the cost of the ship and the cargo.  They also offer him some Puffies, but Enoch says humans weren’t meant to consume Puffies.

Pryce takes their weapons and asks a bunch of questions.  When he asks what their purpose is, Jemma shows him a picture of Fitz and calls him by name.  Pryce gets scared and tells her to never say that name. Malachi jumps out and shoots Daisy with a stun gun.  Piper steps out to hep and he shoots her next. Jemma races to get a gun, and Davis hits Malachi from behind.

Malachi says Jemma and Daisy are out of time.  He also says Fitz is a wanted man for tampering with the universe. He says Fitz was scheduled to arrive in the next vessel.  Daisy realizes Jemma was right. She leaves to question the inspector about the cargo on the next ship.  Malachi says Fitz shouldn’t be alive.  He died over a year ago. Jemma asks what he is. He’s a hunter and they are out of time.

Daisy finds out that Fitz’s ship went to Kitson. Pryce says Kitson is a nasty place. The local saying is “What happens on the planet of Kitson is contagious and burns.”  So the team sets a course for Kitson.

The Casino

Fitz and Enoch take the coin to the House of Games.  Synths are prohibited so Fitz tells Enoch to wait outside. Enoch steps through security undetected. He says he is a Chronicom and can fool any scanner.  As they go inside the casino, Enoch tells Fitz that he is having fun on their journey. He also says Fitz is his best friend. Fitz is concerned that they won’t get off Kitson with one chip.

Enoch takes a chance on a game and wins more chips.  He’s an advanced computer and can calculate the odds for Fitz, so he can win.  Fitz encourages him saying they are BFFs and they are breaking the rules.

Fitz finds a table with high stakes.  The guy next to Enoch tries to throw him off, but Enoch keeps winning.  Fitz tells him to slow down, but Enoch goes all in on a hand. The new friend follows suit.  Enoch loses all of their money to his new friend. He’s good at figuring out the games but bad at reading bluffs.

Back on the cargo ship, Daisy, Jemma, and Davis arrive and ask the unloaders about Fitz.  Daisy has to use her quake powers to make them talk. Jemma pulls out a picture of Fitz, so the new controller says they let him go instead of turning them in.  Davis sees the puffs that Enoch told Fitz not to eat. All three eat the puffs and the controller tells them that Fitz is either at the casino or the brothels.

Fitz is frustrated that Enoch can’t read humans well.  Enoch suggests they work at the brothels to get more money.  Fitz says no, so Enoch suggests they play another game with some very high stakes. The stakes are…Fitz is collateral. If he loses, he is sold into slavery.  Enoch will stand by and count the tiles. He will use a high pitch noise that only humans can hear to signal Fitz’s play.

Jemma and Daisy go to the casino and the puffs kick in. They start seeing things in slow motion and lose their balance.  As Jemma gives up her gun, they both admit they are tripping, like they are on drugs. Jemma suggests it’s the atmosphere and they will adjust. Nope, they start hallucinating and realize the puffs they ate are drugs.  And then laugh because Davis ate a bunch of the puffs.

Puffing

Davis starts acting weird for Piper.  She asks what he ate and who else had some. Meanwhile, Daisy and Jemma are together inside the casino and forget why they are there.  It’s Ladies Night folks and time to reminisce about the first time Simmons and Johnson met.  As they talk, Simmons sees a hallucination of Fitz dressed in a monkey suit.  He is balancing himself on her straw and falls off.

Daisy starts trying to tell Jemma how much they are alike.  She says they have a real connection and is rubbing Jemma’s head.  Except it’s not Jemma.  She doesn’t know who he is and is a little lost without her little British friend.

Piper leaves to contact Daisy.  Davis sees Malachi remove his hands from the handcuffs with ease.  He’s so amazed that Davis doesn’t move when Malachi walks toward him.  Malachi knocks out Davis and heads for the bridge.

Piper returns with some animal crackers and finds Davis on the ground.  He wakes up and says the hunter is some kind of shape-shifting contortionist assassin.  They look for Malachi and find him sending a transmission on the ship’s computer.  Davis shoots at Malachi and destroys the ship’s fuse box.

Fear and Loathing on the Planet of Kitson

Daisy is about to panic when she spots a pair of “dainty feet” under a game table.  Simmons is under there, petting the carpet and wondering if her parents were mice.  When Daisy gets there, Jemma starts crying, missing Fitz. Daisy gets sad too wishing she had her own Fitz.  Jemma gets even sadder that Daisy has been unlucky when it comes to love. She commends her for being brave and confident though. The tears really start flowing when the two ladies declare to be best friends and Daisy has soft skin.  The moment is broken up by the sound of a dolphin.

The dolphin noise is coming from Enoch.  He is using it to guide Fitz in his poker game.  Fitz survives this hand, but the alien next to him isn’t so lucky.  The guards put his dead body in the corner of the room.  The next hand starts and it’s Fitz’s turn to wager. But when he looks to Enoch for help, the Chronicom is asleep. Fitz tries to stall, hoping Enoch will wake up.

An electrical surge hits Enoch and a loud pitch alarm goes off.  The dealer realizes that Enoch is a synth and locks the room down with only Fitz and Enoch inside.  He tells Fitz that he will have to answer for breaking the house rules.

Daisy and Jemma hear the noise as well. No one else seems to hear it though.  Jemma suggests it sound only humans can hear, like a secret signal. They both remember their mission to find Fitz.

Full House

Fitz reboots Enoch to turn off the alarm.  Enoch doesn’t like that but then realizes that he’s been decommissioned.  He’s a disgrace to the Chronicoms and has a melt down saying he has no purpose.  He says since he has been decommissioned that means hunters will be coming for him soon.  At that same time, three hunters appear at the door of the House of Games. When they are greeted, they shoot their way through to find Enoch and Fitz.

Daisy and Jemma emerge from under the game table only to find the hunters entering the casino.  Daisy shoots at the hunters before they even see her. She is still under the influence of the Puffies, so Daisy has a hard time shooting straight.  Jemma helps by steading Quake’s arm so they can shoot each hunter one at a time. Once the guys are down, Daisy tells Jemma to find Fitz.  She says she will be fine against the hunters.  If she can’t Quake it, she’ll break it.

Fitz realizes the dead alien smells awful.  Enoch tells him the alien’s blood is 75% sulfur and that gives Fitz an idea.  He uses the alien blood and covers the door in it, despite the smell.  Enoch is still sad about being a disgrace to his race.  Fitz tries to cheer him up by saying he has a new purpose and that’s to be Fitz’s best friend.  Enoch likes his new purpose and promises to do whatever Fitz requires of him. Enoch uses his electrical circuits to set the door on fire.

Daisy continues her fight with the hunters. She’s sloppy but effective and wins…of course. Jemma runs to the game room and it’s blocked by a guard.  She says her future husband is behind the door he is guarding.  A dolphin told her, in a secret message meant only for her. The guard tells her to lay off the puffs. He knows she’s been under the gaming table for twenty minutes.

The fire blows off the door to the game room and it hits the security guard in the back. Jemma sees Fitz emerge from the room and starts to cry.  As soon as Fitz sees Jemma, Malachi shows up through a breach and grabs Fitz.  Enoch sees Jemma and says she should not be there.

On Earth, Sarge (Clark Gregg) and Jaco (Winson James Francis) light up their crystalized gun.  They’re not trying to blow up the earth. The gun helps them see several signals on Earth.  Sarge says he’s seen worse. They leave to go make a mess.

Thoughts

Every now and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. gives views a gem that is unforgettable.  Right now, this is the only episode in my head and will be for a while.  This episode was hilarious.   It’s a side of Daisy and Jemma that we’ve never seen before.  And it shows the range of actors.  I hope they had fun with it.  I know I would.

Jemma is a Ravenclaw!! Yeah!

Ok, we are starting to drag this story out a little too long.  I hate when the writers give us a reunion and then snatch it away like that.  I know, nothing worthwhile comes easily, but we’ve been waiting a whole year to see FitzSimmons back together. i thought Sarge and his group were trying to destroy the Earth. And maybe they are. The scene at the end indicates there’s more to their story though.  I’m ready to find out what that is.
