Fitz is back on Agents of SHIELD! So know we know the whole story…I think. The Earth explodes…apparently because of Quake. The surviving humans were rescued, then enslaved by the Kree. A prophecy that SHIELD would return to save humanity surfaced and everyone who believed was killed.
The agents show up, minus Fitz, courtesy of an alien in charge of observing humanity. Fitz was put in a cryo chamber to sleep for 74 years so he could join the team in the future. The rest of the team is split up. Coulson, Mack and Elena are in the salvage. Jemma and Daisy are being held by the Kree leader Kasius. And May…we’re not sure where May is.
Fitz is awake and has emerged in Kasius’ gala. Got it? Ok. Let’s go! Oh and this episode, “Fun and Games” is directed by none other than Coulson himself, Clark Gregg.
Flint (Coy Stewart) is a sixteen year old boy that lives in the lighthouse. He scavenges items to sell for food. Just as he gets a slice of an orange, the Kree take him.
Coulson (Gregg), Mack (Henry Simmons) and Elena/YoYo (Natalia Cordova-Buckley) recap their situation. They are back at the marketplace, without May (Ming-Na Wen) or Deke (Jeff Ward). Tess (Eve Harlow) finds them. She tells them the Kree are harvesting the children.
At Kasius’ (Dominic Rains) party, Enoch (Joel Stoffer) fills in Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) on what is role is now. Fitz is a very wealthy marauder who is only interested in buying Quake, the Destroyer of Worlds. Also known as Daisy Johnson (Chloe Bennett). Fitz spots Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge). Enoch offers to set up an introduction.
Kasius and Sinara (Florence Faivre) look over their guests. Sinara gives Kasius a strange look and turns her attention to Fitz. Kasius says he knows about her concerns and will keep an eye on him.
Tess is worried about Flint going through terragenesis. Most teenagers go through the process when they turn 18. The reason they are taking teens now is so they can be sold to Kasius’ buyers at his little party downstairs. Tess goes to talk to Flint to calm his nerves. She tells him he will be fine and gives him a hug.
A crowd gathers to watch the terragenesis mist be released over four teenagers. Flint is the only one who grows a cocoon. Elena leaves, unable to watch the Kree take Flint away. Tess starts to cry. The cocoon bursts and Flint disappears. Elena took him, revealing her Inhuman powers to Flint.
Simmons is looking out into space when Fitz comes up behind her. He tells her to play it cool and don’t turn around, not knowing that she can’t hear him. Simmons starts to prepare food for Kasius’ guest. He says he has missed her. And now that he has found her, he cannot live another day without her. He asks Simmons to marry him. When she doesn’t answer, Fitz touches her shoulder. She turns around and Kasius walks up.
Kasius asks if there is a problem. Fitz pretends to be angry that Kasius’ slave did not answer his question. Kasius says she only hears the voice of her master. He turns on Simmons hearing to avoid any trouble. Fitz keeps up his facade and talks about how he would treat slaves. Kasius likes his attitude. He sends Simmons to check on the harvest.
Kasius and his guests enjoy their dinner. One guest, Ponarian (Patrick Fabian) is very loud and boisterous. He mentions that Kasius was exiled because his father is displeased with him. Now Kasius’ brother is set to take over the family empire. He brings a special slug for dinner and everyone gets a slice.
Meanwhile, Daisy stands with the rest of the slaves. She talks to the telepath, Ben (Myko Olivier) about trying to escape. She says they need to work together. Ben tells her there is no escape because they are slaves.
Ponarian asks how Kasius keeps his humans in line. Fitz answers that he kills them. Everyone stares at him. Fitz looks up and sees Simmons holding a knife. He tells them that’s what he would do. He would create an environment where they feared for their lives. Kasius appears to like his answer. Ponarian asks why Fitz didn’t eat his snail, Fitz says he doesn’t like mushy food or the mushy people who eat it. Kasius laughs at the exchange.
Elena hides Flint in the salvage. He says he has to go back to be taken to Kasius. He says he will be taken care of now. Elena tells him that he will be sold into slavery. Coulson, Mack and Tess show up. They all agree that they have to hide Flint. They decided to hide him in the trawler until the next run. That gives them time to find May. Tess leaves to check on something.
Kasius and his guests go to the arena to watch a fight. Ben is in the arena and his opponent is May. She looks up and sees Fitz. The fight starts. Fitz asks Kasius about the time travellers. Kasius says that Simmons and Quake were the only ones. They start talking about the rocky relationships they have with their fathers. Fitz asks if Kasius is selling the Destroyer to impress his father.
Ben overpowers May. They chit chat while they fight. May says they have to work together if they are both going to live. Ben says that’s not the way to stay alive. He wins the fight, but before Ben can kill May, Fitz tells Kasius the match is boring. He says May needs to be sent to the surface and fed to the roaches…aka Vrellnexians.
A Kree guard approaches Tess about Flint. He says he saw her talking to the boy before the ceremony. She plays off the relationship as being just business.
Elena tells Flint about her powers. He asks how she found out. She tells him a story of zooming around her apartment and calling her brother to make sure she wasn’t crazy. Grill (Pruitt Taylor Vince) turns on their metrics and laughs. He says Kasius would be interested in hearing her story.
The buyers prepare to bid on Ben, but Kasius changes his mind. He says Ben lied about how many time travelers came through with Daisy and Simmons. And for that, he must die. Daisy screams for him to be spared, but Kasius doesn’t listen. He orders Sinara to kill him. Fitz asks if there’s another way, but Kasius won’t budge. RIP Ben.
Grill tries to put their story together. He asks why they didn’t have metrics when they arrived. Coulson tells him they come from the past to save the world. He asks if they are the ones from the prophecy. Grill laughs at them because he doesn’t believe in the prophecy. He says he’s going to turn them over to Kasius.
Simmons visits Daisy, who is upset about Ben. They are both surprised to see Fitz. Daisy asks what his plan is. Simmons says it’s to buy them from Kasius. Daisy says they need another plan, just in case. Simmons shows her a knife that she lifted. Daisy says they need more than a knife. She has to get ready for her fight, so Simmons leaves.
Outside of Daisy’s room, Simmons sees Fitz across the hall and walks towards him. Another slave stops her and says they have a problem and they leave. Enoch approaches Fitz and tells him that Kasius’ brother has arrived to buy the Destroyer.
Flint tries to run, but Grill hits him. Mack yells at Grill for hitting a kid. Grill shocks Mack, Elena and Coulson. He says he knows they set up Zev and they deserve to fry. Flint’s powers kick in and rocks start flying around the room. Grill pulls a gun on Flint and tells him to stop. Flint gathers many rocks and throws them at Grill, killing him.
Fitz confronts Kasius about allowing his brother to buy the Destroyer. Kasius says he will have an opportunity to buy another Inhuman. Enoch hears them talking and hands Fitz something. Fitz says he has something for Enoch to take care of.
Everyone returns to the arena. Kasius’ brother, Faulnak (Samuel Roukin) arrives and is annoyed about having to be there. Kasius says he will like the match between the Destroyer and one of his best Inhumans. Faulnak insists that a Kree fight the Destroyer. He suggests putting Sinara in the arena. Kasius agrees.
Flint freaks out about killing Grill. Elena says it’s not his fault. They need to hide Flint anyway. Coulson and Mack leave to find Tess. They find her hanging in the marketplace wearing a sign that says “Bring the Inhuman.” They turn around and go back to the salvage.
Daisy is set to face off against Sinara. Kasius puts up a forcefield to protect himself from Daisy. This messes up Fitz’s plan. Daisy and Sinara fight and Daisy quakes Sinara. She gives Fitz a nod and they begin their attack. Simmons pulls out her knife and attacks Kasius. Fitz pulls out a gun, shoots the buyers, and turns off the forcefield. Daisy flies in the air to quake the rest of the guest. Faulnak picks up the remote and turns on Daisy’s inhibitor. Daisy falls to the ground.
Fitz and Simmons jump over the railing and onto the arena floor. Fitz shoots the control panel as he jumps, turning on the forcefield. When he lands he tells Jemma that he never wants to be apart from her again and kisses her. Simmons asks Fitz to marry her. He says ‘Absolutely!’ Fitz shoots Sinara. They grab Daisy and escape.
Enoch, disguised as a Kree guard makes his way to a guarded elevator. The guard asks who he is and if he knows where he is going. Enoch gets into the elevator. The guard says that no one comes back. Enoch knocks him out and answers that he’s not a person. The elevator door closes.
Wow! No more timid, stumbling Leo Fitz. He’s a bonafide hero! Clark Gregg did an excellent job of keeping the story moving in this episode. It was action packed and very satisfying to watch. I mean…how long have we been waiting for Fitz and Simmons to properly reunite?
So May is on the surface. The team will fully reunite soon. And they go get her, right! I hope so. It’s time to find out what really happened to the Earth. With Faulnak there, Kasius will have no choice but to let him take over. Is Kasius even alive?
So Flint’s powers are foreshadowing. He can move rocks together. Do you think he will be powerful enough to put the earth back together? That’d be cool.
The show started off very confusing and a little slow with some characters that you didn’t care about. I think it’s finally back on track from last season’s momentum. It will be interesting to see what they do with episode 12, which happens to be the 100th episode!
