Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is set to return to our screens on ABC this May (a specific date is yet to be confirmed), and Entertainment Weekly has oh so kindly released a new promotional poster. The new poster features all eight of our main cast members gathered around what appears to be a poker table, in this official full cast image for the upcoming new season.

So what can the eagle-eyed amongst us infer from this image alone? Well, the team appear to be in a sort of alien casino in a frame not too dissimilar to the iconic Last Supper. You can clearly see that the previously assumed dead Coulson (Clark Gregg) appears very much alive. But as theorised from the show’s recent season 6 trailer, this may not be a version of Coulson that fans know and love. A number of Easter eggs can also be spotted throughout this image. Agent May (Ming-Na Wen) appears forlorn, drinking a glass of what is presumably Haig and reminiscing about the lose of our Coulson.
Elena (Natalia Cordova-Buckley) is wearing her robotic arms, which Fitz designed for her last season, and appears very much supportive of Mack’s (Henry Simmons) new role. The new director of S.H.I.E.L.D. himself looks like he means business, front and center of the poster and looking directly into camera. You may also spot him holding Fury’s toolbox, which was originally gifted to Coulson in season 1. Daisy (Chloe Bennet) seems to be sporting her new outfit which was shown in full on social media a number of months back. This new Quake look also appears to include a new set of gauntlets, which may have been modified to control her strengthened powers after consuming the GH serum last season in order to defeat Graviton. She’s also positioned next to Fitz (Iain de Caestecker), so can we guess that their friendship will be on the mend?
To the right of the image we can also see a reunited (and happy!!) Fitzsimmons family. Yes, it seems that Jemma (Elizabeth Henstridge) and the team relocate and reunite with her currently estranged husband, but as to how easy that journey will be remains to be seen. Although, Deke (Jeff Ward) appears to have not changed his ways, sneakily pocketing poker chips unbeknownst to his nearby grandparents.
As can be taken from the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. official Twitter this season will be “out of this world”, implying that audiences are in for another space-centred season, much like the setting of the first half of last season. Whilst we can only speculate more about the fast-approaching season 6 more information is surely bound to come our way very soon as the full cast and showrunners head to Anaheim’s WonderCon this weekend (Saturday March 30th) for a panel and exclusive showing of the season 6 premiere episode.
