The wait is almost over for Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fans! ABC announced the premiere date for the final season on the show’s Twitter account. The Agents are moving from Fridays to Wednesdays with thirteen episodes in season seven beginning May 27.
AoS season six ended with an interesting twist. Agent Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) recovered the team from being destroyed by the Chronicoms. The Chronicoms invaded Earth to establish a new home world, Chronica III. Only S.H.I.E.L.D. can stop them so they sent assassins to destroy the team. With help from Enoch (Joel Stoffer), Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) and Simmons upgraded the Zephyr for time travel. The only caveat is that Fitz and Simmons will remain separated, indefinitely.
The really big twist is that Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) is back, as a Life Model Decoy with Chonicom technology. Coulson died after season five. Gregg returned in season six as a copy of Coulson named Sarge, aka Pachakutiq, an ancient being trying to take over the world. Earth is a hot commodity right now.
SO! The team travels to the past in season seven, 1931 New York City to be exact. Also a time when S.H.I.E.L.D. nemesis Hydra was making waves. This is going to be one exciting season. Here’s official AoS synopsis:
“With the all-new Zephyr set to time-jump at any moment, the team must hurry to find out exactly what happened. If they fail, it would mean disaster for the past, present and future of the world.”
